🇨🇴❤️‍🔥🏳️‍⚧️ — Colombia names trans for woman's deputy ministry

➡️ Colombian President Gustavo Petro has appointed Charlotte Schneider Callejas as the new Vice Minister for Women's Affairs in the Ministry of Equality and Equity. The decision, published in an foficial decree, quickly sparked political and social debate in the South American country.

➡️ The central point of the controversy lies in Schneider's identity: a trans woman of foreign origin, in the position created to represent Colombian women.

➡️ The appointment follows that of Juan Carlos Florián Silva, the current Minister of Equality. Before taking office, he worked as a porn actor and had already drawn criticism for the way he exposed his personal life in interviews.

➡️ Now, with Schneider, two of the ministry's key portfolios are in the hands of officials who divide the country.

🇪🇨⚠️ — The Government of Ecuador denounced an assassination attempt against President Daniel Noboa after his motorcade was attacked in Cañar. Five detainees face terrorism charges following the failed attack, from which the president emerged unharmed.

Despite the attack by a group on the presidential motorcade in Cañar — which was en route to announce the construction of a $4.5 million treatment plant that will benefit 26,000 residents, deliver the $891,000 Sigsihuayco sewage system, and present the financing agreement for the $815,000 Quilloac sewage system — the destabilizers failed to stop the National Government.

Following orders to radicalize, they attacked a presidential motorcade carrying civilians. They tried, by force, to prevent the delivery of a project meant to improve the lives of a community.

We are doing what we are meant to do, and they cannot stop us: reaching every corner of the country where families need infrastructure, services, and the presence of their President.

All detainees will be prosecuted for terrorism and attempted murder.
