🇨🇳🇹🇼🇺🇸📰 NBC News: Xi warned Biden during summit that Beijing will reunify Taiwan with China

➡️ Chinese President Xi Jinping bluntly told President Joe Biden during their recent summit in San Francisco that Beijing will reunify Taiwan with mainland China but that the timing has not yet been decided, according to three current and former U.S. officials.

➡️ Xi told Biden in a group meeting attended by a dozen American and Chinese officials that China’s preference is to take Taiwan peacefully, not by force, the officials said.

➡️ The Chinese leader also referenced public predictions by U.S. military leaders who say that Xi plans to take Taiwan in 2025 or 2027, telling Biden that they were wrong because he has not set a time frame, according to the two current and one former official briefed on the meeting.

➡️ Chinese officials also asked in advance of the summit that Biden make a public statement after the meeting saying that the United States supports China’s goal of peaceful unification with Taiwan and does not support Taiwanese independence, they said. The White House rejected the Chinese request.

China just banned the export of technology to make rare earth magnets. In August China restricted the export of gallium and germanium.
These components are vital for semi conductors. China holds the highest reserves of mineral earths (see graph attached) and the US registered a very high mining output in 2022.
Rare earths and the whole logistic and manufacture chain is a matter of national security for the US and Europe since they fear they will lose Taiwan, which is the world leader in the manufacturing of semiconductors.
The tech battle for semiconductors is of strategic importance since they are needed for everything, aircraft, missiles, computers, medical equipment, etc.
The us, through the US SOUTHERN COMMAND and foreing policy, is trying to secure the production of semiconductors within "the americas". This said, south america plays a very important role as Brazil holds one of the biggest rare earth materials deposits. Besides the rare earth deposits, the US is trying to block all chinese investments in south america. (graph from statista)
🇮🇷 NEW: Iran has increased its monthly production of 60% enriched uranium from 3kg to 9kg a month

According to the IAEA, the rate at which Iran has been producing near weapons-grade uranium enriched up to 60% at the Natanz and Fordow facilities combined has increased to approximately 9 kg per month in December.

By the IAEA's theoretical definition, around 42 kg of this 60% enriched uranium is the amount at which making a nuclear bomb with it cannot be excluded. - Reuters

🇷🇺💸💸 Vladimir Putin's Signature Brings Digital Ruble Into Russia's Tax Code.

The tax code now contains a definition of "digital ruble account" and has rules for the taxation of transactions with digital rubles.

Russia has been pushing forward with its digital ruble, in part as a means to circumvent financial restrictions in the form of sanctions imposed on it for its actions against Ukraine. Putin signed the digital ruble bill into law in July. The Bank of Russia has been working on the Digital ruble as a central bank digital currency project since 2020.

🇺🇸 🇲🇽 "Mass Migration Blueprints" Reveal NGOs "Carefully Planned" US Migrant Invasion, Report Says

🔶️ A network of NGOs, or non-governmental organizations, seems to be playing a powerful role in coordinating the large-scale invasion of illegals at the US southern border.

🔶️ The new website Muckraker revealed a treasure trove of "mass migration blueprints," handed out by NGOs across South and Central America to illegals with details about their route to the US.

🔶️ "The collapse of the US southern border is the result of a carefully planned and deliberately executed industrial mass migration program," Muckraker said.

🔶️ What's becoming increasingly evident is that a network of NGOs funded partly by the US taxpayer but by other countries and corporations are covertly facilitating the invasion of illegals at the US southern border, as well as distributing them across the US into progressive metro areas.

🇪🇺🇺🇦 Europe is preparing a plan to allocate 20 billion euros to Ukraine - if it fails to approve a package of 50 billion.

According to the Financial Times, this is an alternative plan in case Hungary again blocks a common EU decision (as it did in December).

The scheme involves countries providing credit guarantees to the EU budget, which will allow the European Commission to borrow up to 20 billion on foreign markets and send it to Ukraine.

According to the publication's sources, the exact terms are still being discussed, and the final amount will be set "in accordance with the needs of Ukraine."

Not all EU countries can join this scheme, the publication writes. In addition, for Germany and the Netherlands it will require parliamentary approval.

The downside to this model is that it will be limited to loans and does not include grants.

Another option being considered is providing short-term loans to Ukraine. But it will require the consent of most EU countries.
Bitcoin faces risk of protocol-level censorship as miners under increasing regulatory pressure.

U.S. regulators have their eyes on crypto, and even if miners are not in the crosshairs right now, there are reasons for them to be cautious, according to Ben Hutten, a partner at law firm Orrick.

“If miners are providing services to people on the [sanctions] list, that could be deemed by OFAC to be materially supporting a sanctioned person, and it could be a basis for the imposition of sanctions on the service provider”

🇨🇷⚠️Paradise at Risk: Costa Rica, historically considered one of the safest countries in Central America, has seen this scenario change with the increased activity of criminal groups in its territory, mainly associated with drug trafficking.

📈 According to official data, the country has reached record levels of violence this year as the government implements new actions to address the growing security threats.

➡️ The country has already surpassed the record number of homicides recorded last year, according to government statistics: 630 were recorded by the end of September, two more than the total record of 628 in 2022.

The international NGO denouncing organized crime in Latin America, InSight Crime, excluded cases of euthanasia and professional negligence from the information, which were previously added to the official homicide count.

⚠️ According to InSight Crime, the main drivers of the increase in violence in the country are drug trafficking and organized crime, which have driven the record homicide rate as criminal groups vie for territories for drug sale and transportation in the region.

☄️ Costa Rica has become a 'springboard' for Colombian cocaine bound for the United States and Europe. Official data estimate that seizures increased by 56% in 2020 and remained high in the following years.

🇪🇨 A similar phenomenon to Costa Rica occurred in Ecuador in recent years, another country considered peaceful that has been dominated by the influence of drug cartels and now faces a security battle marked by violence, murders, and the devastating influence of organized crime.
