🇺🇸 The US government has now entered day number 35, making it the LONGEST in history.

Since the shutdown began on October 1st, the US government has borrowed $600 BILLION worth of debt.

That's +$17 billion PER DAY.

Today marks day 35 of the 2025 US government shutdown.

This ties the longest shutdown in history seen during President Trump's 1st term, in December 2018.

Historically speaking, the average length of a shutdown is 8 days.

The current shutdown is now 4.5 TIMES longer.

And, the end appears to be distant at best.

Currently, markets see the US government shutdown lasting until December 1st, per Polymarket.

This would mark a 61 day government shutdown, or 26 days LONGER than the current record.

The economic implications are spreading.

Since October 1st, 3.2 MILLION US airline passengers have been impacted by delays or cancellations.

With the shutdown expected to last through Thanksgiving, ~3.5 million delays/cancellations are expected in Thanksgiving week.

Disruptions may exceed 10 million by December 1st.

Since the shutdown began, federal unemployment claims have skyrocketed.

The number of federal employees filing for unemployment has jumped +1,200% since the shutdown began on October 1st.

This officially marks the highest number of federal unemployment claims since 2018.

In a report provided to The Kobeissi Letter by the Congressional Budget Office, the shutdown will now:

1. Reduce Q4 GDP by up to 200 bps
2. Erase -$39B from economy
3. Delay up to $48B worth of payments
4. Delay $23B in paychecks for Federal workers

The shutdown must end.

🇺🇸 Senate Democrats have voted to extend the House shutdown by yet another week.

The House of Representatives will thus reunite on November 17th at the earliest but it is possible that the shutdown may continue and extend over the Thanksgiving break and open in December.

It is unlikely that the U.S. government will be restarted in November and that SNAP benefits will be resumed.

🇺🇸 Department of Transportation might be forced to shut down some airspace next week: Duffy

"So if, if you bring us to a week from today, Democrats, you will see mass chaos," he said. "You will see mass flight delays. You'll see mass cancelations, and you may see us close certain parts of the airspace, because we just cannot manage it because we don't have the air traffic controllers."

Nearly 50% of all major air traffic control facilities face staffing shortages, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Air traffic controllers are required to work without pay for the duration of the shutdown.

About 13,000 air traffic controllers are currently working without pay, according to the FAA. On Friday, the agency said that 80% of New York area staff had called out.

"These hard-working Americans have bills to pay, and they are being forced to make decisions and choices," Duffy said Monday of air traffic controllers at an unrelated event in Philadelphia. "Do they go to work as an air traffic controller, or do they have to find a different job to get resources, money, to put food on their table, to put gas in their car? And as every day goes by, I think the problem is only going to get worse, not better."

Duffy said last month that air traffic controllers could be let go if they didn't show up for work.

"When you come to work, you get paid," Duffy said Oct. 9 in remarks on Fox Business’ "Varney & Co." "If you don't come to work, you don't get paid. ... If we have some on our staff that aren't dedicated, we're going to let them go."

But the transportation secretary softened that stance over the weekend, telling CBS' "Face the Nation" that he would not fire any air traffic controllers for not showing up to work.

"They need support, they need money, they need a paycheck. They don't need to be fired," he said.

🇨🇳🇻🇪 China assures its cooperation with Venezuela "is not directed against any third party"

The Chinese government stated that its collaboration with Venezuela responds to a relationship between sovereign states and does not seek to affect other countries. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, declared that Beijing supports international cooperation against transnational crime and rejects the use of force or unilateral sanctions that disrupt stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The statements come after a report by The Washington Post indicated that Nicolás Maduro had requested support from Russia, China, and Iran amid pressures from the United States. Mao urged Washington to maintain "normal judicial and police cooperation" within international legal frameworks, as tensions grow over U.S. military operations in the Caribbean and Pacific near the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia.

🇻🇪🇷🇺 Russia is already supplying weapons to Venezuela and the shipment of the new Oreshnik intercontinental ballistic missile is being considered.

“Russia is, in fact, one of Venezuela’s key technical-military partners. We supply practically the entire spectrum of weapons, from small arms to aerial equipment. The details and volume of shipments are classified information, so the Americans might be surprised.

I see no obstacle to supplying our friendly nation with new systems such as the Oreshnik or the proven effective Kalibr missiles. No international commitment restricts Russia in this regard,”
stated Alexei Zhuravlyov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee.

He added that an Il-76 transport plane recently delivered Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E missile systems to Caracas.
