🇺🇸🇺🇦 Washington is putting heavy pressure on Europe and Kiev to accept Trump’s plan, Financial Times reports.

The paper describes yesterday’s tense meeting between U.S. and European officials in Kiev, where the Americans made clear their proposal was “barely up for discussion.” Trump’s envoy, General Driscoll, warned that Washington would show little flexibility: “We’re not negotiating the details.”

One European diplomat called the atmosphere at the U.S. Embassy meeting “nauseating.”

According to participants, U.S. chargé d’affaires Davis told the room that while Washington had supported Ukraine’s war effort, “there are limits.” She pointed to clear signs that Russia’s industrial base is far stronger — and that it’s only a matter of time before Kiev is forced to cut a deal.

Driscoll was even more blunt: “It’s time to end this shit.”

He added that the U.S. military “loves Ukraine,” but its honest assessment is that Kiev is in a dire position — and that now is the best moment for peace.

Security guarantees are part of the American proposal, with further talks planned in the coming days. Davis and Driscoll insisted that Zelensky sign the agreement by Thursday. “We have a narrow window — President Trump wants peace now,” Driscoll said.

EU ambassadors called Washington’s message “shocking,” and some accused the U.S. of exploiting Zelensky’s political weakness amid corruption scandals to force an agreement.

Several diplomats described the U.S. proposal as a “strategic victory for Russia.” Davis objected, claiming that "Russia’s heavy losses don’t constitute a win."

European envoys argued that pressure on Russia should be increased instead of rushing into a deal. The Americans countered that Trump’s plan is “the best Ukraine can hope for.”

🇷🇺🇺🇦🇺🇸Umerov at negotiations in the USA agreed to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass and the reduction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to 600,000 people.

Later, this formed the basis of Trump's plan for Ukraine, writes Washington Post columnist David Ignatius.

According to him, negotiations on the new plan began almost a month ago, led by Americans in consultation with Russian, European, and Ukrainian partners.

"The process peaked last weekend after a senior Turkish official informed Whitkoff that Rustem Umerov was ready to meet him in Florida. According to American officials, at the meeting in Florida, Umerov stated that Zelensky might be ready to compromise on the crucial issue of exchanging territory in Donetsk for a peace agreement, as demanded by Russia.
