The United States is preparing to tighten its entry rules for millions of visitors, with authorities planning to make social media checks a mandatory part of entering the country.
According to Bloomberg, U.S. Customs and Border Protection intends to require all visa-waiver travelers to submit the social media accounts they have used over the past five years.
The change would apply to visitors from countries like the UK, Japan, Australia, and most of Europe, who currently enter the U.S. with a visa through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization.
The U.S. has previously asked travelers for social media details, but only on an optional basis. ESTA forms have included a voluntary field for account names since 2016, while full visa applicants have been required to disclose five years of social media history since 2019.
However, the new proposal would be the first time this level of screening becomes compulsory for visa-free visitors.

🙀 JPMorgan CEO calls out EU’s decline: Too much bureaucracy
Speaking at the Reagan Foundation Forum, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, didn't hold back on the EU, criticizing its bureaucratic inefficiencies and military decline.
👉 He argued that Europe’s failure to modernize has led to a significant drop in its global economic standing, with EU GDP dropping from being 90% of the US' to just 65%.
According to Dimon, Europe’s own policies, not America’s actions, are to blame for driving out business, investment, and innovation.

🇨🇳 🇯🇵 🇹🇼 Update on PLA Aircraft Carrier Operations in the Western Pacific
On December 6, the Liaoning aircraft carrier task force transited the Miyako Strait into the Philippine Sea. This was the 5th Chinese carrier task force to operate beyond the First Island Chain this year, matching the total of 5 such deployments recorded last year.
The previous instance of a Chinese aircraft carrier operating outside the First Island Chain in December occurred in late December 2022.
According to Daniel Rice’s analysis in CMSI Note No. 6, a Chinese carrier task force’s defense zone extends roughly 400 kilometers in radius. Notably, this deployment marked the first time a PLA Navy carrier group maintained continuous coverage over the Miyako Strait, Amami Strait, and Osumi Strait while subsequently turning east as it approached Kyushu.

"Today, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Coast Guard, with support from the Department of War, executed a seizure warrant for a crude oil tanker used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran. For multiple years, the oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States due to its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations. This seizure, completed off the coast of Venezuela, was conducted safely and securely—and our investigation alongside the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the transport of sanctioned oil continues."
