🇨🇱🔨Chile opens lithium salt flats for investment, saves two for state control
Chile's government on Tuesday opened up more than two dozen lithium salt flats to private investment, while reserving the prolific Atacama and Maricunga deposits for state majority control in lithium extraction.
The opening to fresh projects could more than double Chile's production of lithium, a key material for electric vehicle batteries, in a decade, said Finance Minister Mario Marcel.
🔻Officials said they would open a tender process in 26 salt flats in April, set to conclude in July, although not all would necessarily attract interest, officials said. In another five salt flats, state-run companies are already beginning projects and seeking partners.
Only two companies currently extract lithium in Chile - Chile's SQM and U.S.-based Albemarle - both in the Atacama salt flat.

Even the Swiss are in shock, there are thousands of them around here. Below I will drop the article. That is, someone there sells passports to people who do not even speak Ukrainian or even Russian.
Well, plus there are a lot of Turks and Chinese here who also don't know a word of Ukrainian but have passports.

🇬🇧Through a Business Insider article, a report prepared by North American Captain Ryan Forte for the Institute of Modern Warfare at West Point has been released. By reading the published fragments one can infer what the Ukrainian withdrawal from Avdiivka really was like. Below we include several of them:
"The withdrawal of Ukrainian defenders serves as a textbook example for the US Army of the challenges, requirements, and risk mitigation considerations involved in successful execution of such an operation."
"Withdrawal from the completely encircled 'Zenit' position in the southeastern outskirts of Avdiivka was a particularly difficult affair for Ukrainian forces, with witness reporting of a disorganized nighttime movement under attack from Russian artillery, direct fire, unmanned aerial vehicles, and loitering munitions."
"Primary and alternate routes need to be established, as does the timing of their use, recognition signals, and methods of communication. [...] For example, if an element of the withdrawing force's main body begins its movement before the security force is in position to effectively support, it may be preemptively engaged and destroyed during this period of vulnerability."
"Medical evacuation procedures must be addressed in detail, to include designated vehicles, routes, and link-up points. Based on available time and enemy action, the ability to evacuate all casualties may not be possible."
The other lesson of Avdiivka is ensuring adequate support for a retreat, especially for the covering force that screens the withdrawal of the rest of the army. "To accomplish this task, in which the security force is potentially outnumbered or outgunned, it will need prioritization from higher echelons for key enablers and weapons systems, such as air defense, fuel depots, and counterbattery radar."
"A withdrawal does not intrinsically mean a defeat. But failing to train, plan, and resource a withdrawal could result in one."

What the US Army should learn from Ukraine's hasty retreat from a Russian assault
Ukraine's withdrawal under heavy fire in the battle of Avdiivka should be a wake-up call for the US Army, an officer argued.
