The iOS 18 feature adds to Apple’s growing list of Emergency SOS features, including Crash Detection and messaging via satellite.
First responder networks are lining up to support a major new emergency feature in iOS 18: Live Video support. Now, 911 support platforms, including RapidSOS Unite and Prepared, are integrating with Apple’s Emergency SOS Live Video, which was announced at WWDC in June.
The new feature lets you video chat with 911 dispatchers and emergency responders, aiding them in finding you fast when you need help. Apple’s Emergency SOS could already relay a voice call and send texts to responders, as well as share your location.

Italy recalled all staff from its embassy in Damascus in 2012 and suspended diplomatic activity in Syria to protest at "the unacceptable violence" of the government of Bashar al-Assad against its own citizens.
At present six EU embassies are open in Damascus -- Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, the Czech Republic and Hungary. None of Italy's Group of Seven partners -- the United States, Japan, Britain, Canada, France or Germany -- have reinstalled ambassadors to Syria.

“If you stick out, you will become non-normative, an anomaly.”
Snowden warns that within 5-10 years, big data will track every aspect of our lives on the blockchain in order to create predictive behavioral models.
These models will control whether or not you are given a loan, whether or not you will be hired for a new job, and how you participate in the marketplace. 🤯
This 2-minute clip of Snowden at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville is mandatory listening. 👇

— 🇺🇸 NEW: A new Washington Post report reveals that a third of all nations are under U.S. sanctions
In just two years, the Biden administration imposed over 6,000 sanctions on various countries.
The United States is imposing sanctions at a record-setting pace again this year, with more than 60% of all low-income countries now under some form of financial penalty.
U.S. officials are increasingly concerned about the effectiveness of sanctions as a means to isolate nations viewed as 'national security threats.' However, plans to reform the sanctions system have been shelved since 2021.
The overuse of U.S. sanctions has made the tool significantly less valuable. In an article from May, WSJ wrote how Western sanctions have led to the creation of an 'Axis of Evasion' led by China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela, effectively foiling Washington's financial warfare.
