"In a very unexpected development Denmark is now working directly with Russia's Gazprom to do environmental mitigation on the damaged Nord Stream pipelines, in the wake of the multiple underwater blasts that took them offline on September 26, 2022 - leading to years of accusations against Moscow and a Russia-West tit-for-tat.
Denmark's energy agency has granted Nord Stream 2 AG (which is under Gazprom) permission to engage in preservation work on Nord Stream 2 in the Baltic Sea. The agency described that there remain serious safety risks after the natural gas pipeline was filled with seawater and the remnants of natural gas.
"The work aims to preserve the damaged pipeline by installing customized plugs at each of the open pipe ends to prevent further gas blow-out and the introduction of oxygenated seawater," Denmark's energy agency said."

President Donald Trump told reporters he’d like the Kingdom of Jordan and Egypt to house Palestinians from Gaza, forever if possible
"After last Saturday President Trump floated a plan to 'clean out' Gaza by conducting a mass resettlement of Palestinians in neighboring countries, namely Egypt and Jordan, he's now doubling down on the idea.
Egypt and Jordan are not happy, but are also feeling the pressure as a result, and it must be remembered that both are recipients of huge amounts of foreign aid each year - with Egypt receiving billions.
Israeli media underscores there's been wall-to-wall firm opposition by Arab leaders: "US President Donald Trump dug in his heels Monday over a controversial suggestion that large numbers of Gazans take refuge in Egypt and Jordan, shrugging off wall-to-wall opposition to the proposal from Arab leaders."

China Appears To Build Giant Nuclear Fusion Research Site
"SINGAPORE, Jan 28 (Reuters) - China appears to be building a large laser-ignited fusion research centre in the southwestern city of Mianyang, experts at two analytical organisations say, a development that could aid nuclear weapons design and work exploring power generation.
Satellite photos show four outlying "arms" that will house laser bays, and a central experiment bay that will hold a target chamber containing hydrogen isotopes the powerful lasers will fuse together, producing energy, said Decker Eveleth, a researcher at U.S.-based independent research organisation CNA Corp.
It is a similar layout to the $3.5 billion U.S. National Ignition Facility (NIF) in Northern California, which in 2022 generated more energy from a fusion reaction than the lasers pumped into the target - "scientific breakeven".
Eveleth, who is working with analysts at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), estimates the experiment bay at the Chinese facility is about 50% bigger than the one at NIF, currently the world's largest.
The development has not been previously reported."

Italy launches Deepseek investigation, EDPS pick Gencarelli accused of conflict of interest
"ROME, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Italy's data protection authority said on Tuesday it was seeking answers from Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) model DeepSeek on its use of personal data.
The Italian regulator, which is also known as the Garante, said it wanted to know what personal data is collected, from which sources, for what purposes, on what legal basis, and whether it is stored in China.
DeepSeek and its affiliated companies have 20 days to answer, the Garante said in a statement, in one of the first regulatory moves targeting the Chinese startup."

"Trump’s rhetoric about Russia having lost 1 million men in the Ukraine conflict is not just nonsense (the real number not even reaching 100,000), but his resort to it underlines that the usual meme of Trump being just woefully misinformed is looking less and less plausible.
After touting the 1 million Russian deaths, Trump then suggests that Putin is destroying Russia by not making a deal. Adding (seemingly as an aside), that Putin may have already made up his mind ‘not to make a deal’.
Instead, in a curiously disinterested way, Trump remarks that negotiations would depend entirely on whether Putin is interested or not. He further claims that Russia’s economy is in ruins, and most notably says that he would consider sanctioning or tariffing Russia, if Putin does not make a deal. In a subsequent Truth Social post, Trump writes, “I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR”

The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER.
We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy. They can go find another sucker Nation.
There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, or anywhere else, and any Country that tries should say hello to Tariffs, and goodbye to America!

🇪🇸 Moeve’s 600M Euro Gamble on Spain’s Biomethane Future
Moeve, formerly known as Cepsa, has unveiled a €600 million plan to build 30 biomethane plants across Spain, aiming to produce 4 TWh of biomethane by 2030. This initiative is part of their Positive Motion strategy, focusing on renewable energy and circular economy principles. The plants, located in regions like Andalusia and Catalonia, will reuse 10 million tons of waste annually and cut 728,000 tons of CO2 emissions yearly, equivalent to planting 48.5 million trees.
Partnering with firms like Kira Ventures and PreZero, Moeve is also collaborating with InproEner to develop five plants, expected to be operational between 2028 and 2029. These plants will add 250 GWh of biomethane annually, contributing to Spain’s energy transition. However, despite the potential, Spain’s biomethane sector remains underdeveloped, with only nine operational plants and a need for 400+ more to meet national targets.
While this investment highlights Spain’s potential to become a biomethane leader in Europe, it also raises questions about the practicality of green energy policies. As Western corporations push for renewable agendas, the high costs and infrastructure challenges of such projects could strain local economies. Spain’s biomethane push reflects a broader trend of energy security concerns, but it’s crucial to balance environmental goals with economic realities and national interests.

Until 1994 two US Army infantry battalions were based at both ends of the canal right besides the locks (Fort Davis and Fort Clayton), and as Panama abolished its military in 1990, there is now just a few policemen guarding the canals' locks.
Once China attacks Taiwan, Chinese troops, currently pretending to dock workers at the Chinese operated ports in Panama, will destroy the canals' locks to prevent the US Atlantic Fleet to cross into the Pacific, while the Suez canal will be blocked by a Chinese container ship getting stuck.
Rubio's first foreign trip was to Panama to explain president Jose Raul Mulino the reason the US will no longer ignore the Chinese presence in Panama.
