▪️Challenger 2 and Leopard 2 tanks use different ammunition & both require an additional crew member (loader) increasing training demands for Ukrainian forces;

▪️Western main battle tanks have proven to be vulnerable to (Russian-made) modern anti-tank weapons even under relatively ideal conditions;

▪️Russian forces have liberated #Soledar, the Russian Defence Ministry (MoD) has said, noting that the town is important for the offensive in the #Donetsk direction;

▪️Control of #Soledar allows Ukrainian forces in #Artyomovsk (#Bakhmut) to be cut off from supplies and then take them into a "cauldron";

▪️ MoD has issued clarifications on the composition of the units involved in the liberation of #Soledar, noting that the city blocks were selflessly stormed by Wagner units;

▪️Ukrainian military lost more than 40 men in the Krasny - #Liman direction, up to 20 in the #Kupyansk direction, and more than 20 in the #Southdonetsk direction;

▪️IAEA Director General Grossi will visit #Ukraine next week, visiting nuclear power plants to station experts there;

▪️ Grossi will discuss in Kiev the creation of a safety zone around the #ZNPP. Consultations are progressing, he said, although not very quickly;

▪️ France said it plans to deliver AMX-10RC tanks to Ukraine within 2 months;

▪️Britain will announce plans to send Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine as early as 16 January, media reported;

▪️Germany will decide on sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine next week, Bloomberg said.
