Stoltenberg: Türkiye agreed to admit Sweden to NATO as soon as possible

The Turkish side agreed to lift the veto on Sweden's admission to the North Atlantic Alliance after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and European Council President Charles Michel.

Stoltenberg announced this.

“President Erdogan agreed to submit the protocol on the admission of Sweden to NATO for ratification to parliament as soon as possible and work with him to ratify this document as soon as possible,” TASS quoted him as saying.

According to Stoltenberg, NATO will create a special mechanism and the post of a special representative to combat terrorism.
