In five years’ time, Shapps warned, Britain “could be looking at multiple theatres” of war involving Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.
Shapps’ speech came four days after the UK government ordered a first round of airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
The bombing campaign was designed to protect international shipping, and shield Israel from the consequences of its genocide in Gaza.
Yet Britain’s campaign against the Houthis has not only failed to stop the attacks on vessels in the Red Sea – it also risks escalating to a major confrontation with Iran.

Today, a message from a France News website went viral on Ukrainian telegram channels that “French regiments” are heading to Odessa via Romania.
But People's Deputy Goncharenko said that the site that spreads the message about French troops marching to Odessa is fake.
“Macron did not talk about transferring regiments and sending them to Odessa. If this were the case, the Rada would vote for permission to send troops,” he wrote.
He also recalled that without the permission of the Rada, no foreign troops can be brought into Ukraine.
But parliament did not give such permission.

About 200 thousand people voted online in the presidential elections in Moscow.
“About 200 thousand people voted electronically in the Russian presidential elections in the capital in the first minutes of voting,” says the operational headquarters’ Telegram channel.
They reminded that Muscovites can take part in voting in different ways, for example, remotely at elec.mos.ru, using a terminal at a polling station, or by filling out a paper ballot.
The early voting period began on February 25 and ended on March 14.
