They came to a friend’s office and reviewed a small sample of over 10 years of his charts, found errors, multiplied the errors by the entirety of his charts and demanded a refund of almost a million dollars. But then they agreed to settle for $90,000 but he had to sign an agreement never to speak about the investigation. THEY — the RAC was able to put in the newspaper that Dr. So and So was paying back $$ for fraud against Medicare. But he couldn’t defend himself to the people he served. This was in the early 2000’s.
