A sinkhole nearly 3m deep has formed in Taman Pertama, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.
The sinkhole, which appeared at the intersection of Jalan Selar and Jalan Selangat in the early morning of April 28, has led to the closure of sections of both roads as well as Jalan Semerah Padi 1.
A meeting on May 6 decided that the intersection will remain closed to allow further site investigations and ensure public safety.
It is understood that the sinkhole developed during preliminary sewerage pipe-laying works being carried out by contractors at a nearby development project.
However, it is yet to be determined whether the construction work was directly linked to the incident.

BOSSIER PARISH, Louisiana
A bridge in south Bossier Parish has been closed because of a structural failure.
The Atkins Clark Bridge, located about 1,000 feet east of Highway 71, is sinking, according to the Bossier Parish Police Jury.
Motorists will be directed to alternative routes. The closure will remain closed indefinitely.
"We understand the inconvenience this closure will cause, but the safety of our residents is our top priority," said Parish Engineer Eric Hudson. "We are working diligently to assess the situation and will provide updates as soon as possible."

This article is so interesting. Heres an Army Officer doing a research project on a new weapon. When you read his concerns they were based on first hand field operations. He watched them in live fire exercises run out of ammo presumably before objectives were met. A fairly obvious question is why the manufacturers would DECREASE magazine capacity. The responses were statements like this:
Patterson also said there is no doctrine dictating a “Universal Combat Load.”
I get the issue of the larger projectile and modern body armor. But the guys USING rifles don’t like this compromise. The problem isn’t any one weapon system. The problem is theory trumping actual observable reality in all aspects of our world today. And when the theoretical guys are wrong, they “go back to the drawing board” but the warfighter goes to the morgue.
