#GoogleKeep.

The news of Google Keep getting text formatting support was spotted almost a year ago but there was no preview/video of the feature except some string and icons.

I enabled it on Google Keep and attached a video above to show how it works. The web version also doesn't support text formatting, so you will see normal text on web.

And yes, I will share the flag to enable it soon.

#GoogleDocs

Google Docs may soon get the basic markup feature (same as available in Google Drive) allowing you to add signatures and draw on docs directly while creating documents.

As far as I know and please correct me if I am wrong, the markup/drawing feature is available only in Web Version and is more advanced.

Meanwhile the Android version is not that advanced, people who use docs frequently will probably find it very useful.

#GooglePlayServices

The Cross Device services have finally landed in Google Play Services. The "Link Your Device" service which was spotted earlier will have a Device group feature where you can invite and join your other devices which have the same Google account. You will be able to share your internet and transfer calls across devices.

The feature may arrive very soon but still a work in progress because the device listed in screenshot are dummy devices.

Till then, rooted users can enable the feature with (but it may not work) -

Package - com.google.android.gms.multidevice#com.google.android.gms

Flag - MultideviceSettingsConfig__enable_link_your_devices

GMS version - 23.32.13

Oh well, I don't have a pixel watch. ☹️

Edit : I know this is an old thing announced by Google. But still. 👀

Just a new setup wizard for Nearby Sharing. They are also adding some consent feature (Activity is there but not accessible ) before you start using Nearby Share for the first time on your device.

#GoogleContacts

The single contact widget provider in Google contact is getting a new widget (v2). It is rounded square but the shape and button placement changes as we resize it.

The old widget provider (v1) is still present but it is not possible to keep both versions enabled at the same time. It's unknown if Google will remove the old one completely or will keep both widgets and provide an option to let just users choose.

It's present in the Google Contact version 4.15.24.554449442 but needs root to enable at this moment. Expect it to roll out soon.

The flag and package name is changed for this in Google Messages. Here is new flag & package - 📦 Package - com.google.android.apps.messaging#com.google.android.apps.messaging 🏳️ Flag - bugle_phenotype__enable_home_screen_redesign Tested on Google Message…
#GoogleMessages

When you enable the new Google Message redesign flag, supersort (Message categories) thing just disappears completely. While it's currently not possible to bring it all back for now, you can at least have the auto-delete OTP feature with this redesign as Google added a flag to decouple this feature from Supersort. You will see the option under "Message Organisation".

Package - com.google.android.apps.messaging#com.google.android.apps.messaging

Flag - bugle_phenotype__untangle_otp_auto_delete_from_super_sort

#GoogleChrome

You may have seen this news before about Google adding a "Delete last 15 minutes" in chrome. Google has renamed it to just "Clear browsing data" and now shows a pop-up with the default choice of deleting the last 15 minutes of data. You can choose the time from the pop-up.

If you tap on "more options" where you will see the regular "Clear browsing data" page.

These changes are available in Chrome Canary for Android. Not available in beta yet.

Google Keep's Version History. I have seen news of this, but with "Coming soon" written below version history. Luckily Google enabled it for me as a part of scheduled rollout and here is how it works on web version.

Google Messages - SMS permission & E2E Encryption

Google may add an option in Google message that will not let other third party apps with SMS permission access your E2E Encrypted RCS chats/messages when set as default message app. Currently any third party app that is set as the default message app can read your RCS messages.

Pros - No other app with SMS permission can access RCS chats when set as default message app. More privacy and no trace of chats once data of Google Messages is cleared.

Cons - Android Backup will not backup your RCS chats. Normal SMS will still be backed up & restored normally. So you won't be able to restore your RCS messages once you wipe your phone or get a new one.

#PlayStore

This just means Google Enabled the MaterialNextSemanticColors__enable_gm3_semantic_colors_phase1 for you.

This darker color is not some permanent thing and Google will eventually change it to just regular dark which you see in Material You because Google is working on migration/updation of underlying code of whole Play Store.

The bottom nav will still be grayish. So you can turn it more dark as well by enabling MaterialNextDynamicTheming__killswitch_dynamic_theming_bottomnavbar_flag in the com.google.android.finsky.stable package with GappsMod app. (Need root)

People who cannot find the above package name in GappsMod should use this version.
