क्यों? क्योंकि सीमा पार के आतंकवादी जनरल जहरीली हवाओं में ध्वस्त आबादियों के चित्र देखना चाहते हैं। हार्दिक इच्छा है उनकी कि वो मिट्टी में सनी लाशों के बीच से अपने इतिहास की व्याख्याएं चुनें। हम ने शांति के लोक में साँस लेते हुए सुना, सहा, समझा, समझाया लेकिन अब ये उचित नहीं है। सारे आधुनिक मूल्य हिंसा को स्थगित रखने के लिए बनाए गए हैं, लेकिन आधुनिक तकनीक ने ही कबीलाई युग में अटके लोगों को सबक सिखाने के शस्त्र भी दिए। ध्यान दीजियेगा कि भारत की पहली प्रेस वार्ता में जो वीडियो दिखाया गया था, उसमें संसद पर हमले से लेकर 26/11 हमले तक की फुटेज थी। हम केवल पहलगाम का प्रतिशोध नहीं ले रहे हैं। ये हम जानते हैं कि जो आसपास दिखाई और सुनाई दे रहा है उसके अपने असर हैं, लेकिन असत्य अब अधिपत्य को लालयित है। उसका पेट खाली है और आँखें लोभ से भरी हैं। अक्षौहिणी सेनाओं ने उठा लिए हैं अस्त्र, और वो कर्तव्य से विमुख होना नहीं जानतीं। उन्हें ना उत्सव की कामना है, ना हानि का भय। केवल कर्तव्य का व्रत है। एक पूरा नगर था हमारे भीतर, घंटियों की गूंज से भरा हुआ। जहाँ बुद्ध मुस्कराते थे, तुलसी बाँचते थे, और कबीर उलझे हुए सवालों को सीधा करते थे। इसी नगर में वीणा के सुर, और तलवार की धार, एक ही शरीर में बसते हैं। हमने कई रातें, हथेली पर रख कर काटीं, सोचा शायद नरधामों की आत्मा में अब भी कुछ मनुष्यता शेष हो। हमारे अरण्य मौन रहे, लेकिन अब वहाँ से बाघों के जत्थे निकल पड़े हैं। हमारे पूर्वजों ने सिखाया था, कि युद्ध अंतिम विकल्प है। लेकिन, विकल्प है।
