Storm Barra poses "danger to life" as 80mph winds, rain and snow batter Britain
Weather warnings have been issued for the storm sweeping in from the Atlantic, with the Met Office saying: "There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties."
The west of Ireland is expected receive the worst of the storm Tuesday, with travel disruptions likely as well as power cuts and damage to buildings – with some 3,000 households already without power in the country, according to ESB Networks and flooding.
The UK’s Environment Agency has issued three flood warnings for England's south coast, as well as 35 flood alerts.

Evergrande Risks Becoming China’s Biggest-Ever Defaulter
Offshore bondholders of China Evergrande Group reportedly did not receive coupon payments Monday – ending a 30-day grace period. (Reuters)
If true, failure to make the $82.5mn interest payments that were due last month would trigger cross-default on the firm's roughly $19bn of international bonds.
On Monday, the developer said it had established a risk-management committee that included officials from state entities to assist in "mitigating and eliminating the future risks,” after Chinese authorities summoned their chairman Friday for talks.

Pope brands EU “NAZI DICTATORSHIP” for woke language rules and Christmas cancel culture
Pope Francis has slated the EU’s woke language police trying to cancel Christmas in case it offends non-Christians. Here are some suggested alternatives in the guidelines:
▪️Christmas > holiday period
▪️Mary & John > Malika & Julio
▪️Man-made > human-induced
“In history, many dictatorships have tried to do these things,” the pontiff said Monday. “I'm thinking of Napoleon, the Nazi dictatorship, the Communist one. The EU... must be careful not to take the path of ideological colonisation. This could end up dividing countries and causing the EU to fail.”
Brussels has now said it will withdraw the book as it “clearly requires more work.”

Facebook Sued for $150bn Over Rohingya “Genocide” Role
A lawsuit claiming $150bn in damages has been filed on behalf of 10k Rohingya against Facebook for the Big Tech platform’s role in a hate speech campaign that left around 10k of the refugees dead.
Facebook was “willing to trade the lives of the Rohingya people for better market penetration in a small country in south-east Asia,” according to the lawsuit itself, which argues the platform was aware of posts targeting the Rohingya for years - that eventually turned into a “substantial cause” of their “genocide.”
After admitting it had not done enough to stop the incitement of hatred in 2018, Facebook launched an independent report concluding it bore some responsibility.
