Nearly 100,000 Evacuated as Typhoon Rai slams Philippines
Chaos has engulfed the Philippines as Typhoon Rai’s 130mph winds have slammed into the islands causing almost 100k residents to be evacuated as local authorities upgraded it to a category 5 storm - the most dangerous level.
Conditions may help it become a super typhoon as wind speed is expected to push 160mph with at least 10 inches of rain forecast, flash flooding and landslides expected.
Dozens of flights have been cancelled while around 4,000 passengers have been stranded in various sea ports.

The America Project’s chief executive, former Overstock CEO Byrne, told Reuters Flynn “asked me to come down and set this up.” Flynn “is a driving force” to continue fighting the results of the 2020 election, said the group’s operations officer, Carl Johnson. The America Project told Florida regulators it expected to raise $50 million this year, records show. Byrne said the group raised closer to $10 million, mostly from him.
