🔸 China's efforts to boost economic growth by making bank deposits less attractive have led to an unprecedented outflow of money from banks, with a large portion going into bonds and wealth management products.

🔸 Total deposits in the country decreased by 3.9 trillion yuan ($538 billion), or 1.3%, in April as investors sought higher returns elsewhere. Meanwhile, policymakers have cracked down on companies that were using preferential rates to keep cash in banks.

🔸 The rush of funds into higher-yield assets indicates that Chinese policymakers' efforts to encourage risk-taking are bearing fruit, even though this money has not yet translated into a surge in consumer spending or stock investments.

🔸 Ming Ming, Chief Economist at Citic Securities, said, "People are withdrawing their savings for spending and investment, and this is something policymakers will be pleased to see."
