The +Beta Buildup Battle ends and the Global Op Redux starts!

A few minutes ago, the +Beta Buildup Battle has concluded, and Agents are now anxiously waiting for the results to be published. They will be announced within a week from now.

As we say goodbye to a very hard fought Global Challenge which can determine the destiny of the +Beta Series given the amount of +Beta Season Points at stake, a new set of campaigns has unlocked on our scanners! It's time for the Global Op Redux!

This set of paid campaigns will allow Agents to obtain the Global Op medal from previous Series, or get the Wings of Recursion for your Silver Tier Medal if you already achieved it during the original Op.

Only two events remain to declare the winner of the +Beta Series:

The Ingress team has revealed more details about the previously announced C.A.R.G.O. feature!

With the release of Scanner Version 3.1, C.A.R.G.O. will be available in the in-app Store for a cost of 3,500 CMU each. Each C.A.R.G.O. increases inventory capacity by 100 slots for 30 days from the date of acquisition. Agents may acquire up to five C.A.R.G.O. simultaneously, with each C.A.R.G.O. operating on an independent 30-day timer.

Once bought, the inventory expansion is automatically applied and their remaining duration can be checked in the Scanner Settings. As with C.O.R.E., if C.A.R.G.O. expires and you are over the inventory limit you will need to delete or use items to be able to hack portals or redeem passcodes again.

After feedback from local Agents and authorities, Niantic decided to cancel the +Beta Shard Storm Event in 🇯🇵 Sapporo, Japan on December 14th.

The city will be replaced with 🇬🇧 Newcastle upon Tyne, England, UK!
The Intel Map ornaments already reflect this change.

A special ITO EN X Ingress Dispatch Challenge will be released with the opportunity to earn the new ITO EN medal!

At the moment, the only known way to participate in this challenge is by participating in a lottery set up by ITO EN and winning one of only 100 passcodes which gives you access to the Dispatch Campaign. To participate, head over to Twitter, follow itoen_vd and retweet their Tweet linked below.

We currently do not know if it'll be possible to aquire the Campaign and/or the Medal otherwise, and it might be possible that this Medal will be exclusive to the 100 winners.

Other Agents will have the opportunity to get access to the Campaign via other means in 2026.

Update: Brian has confirmed that while the 100 Agents selected by the lottery will be the first to access the ITO EN Dispatch Challenge, other Agents will also be able to gain access later in 2026. The exact details of how isn't known, but going by the phrasing of "many more Agents" it is likely that there will be a way for Agents to access it globally.

Niantic announced a new Campaign that will run from December 16th, 2025 to February 5th, 2026: Operation Polaris!

The Campaigns will be based around completing Daily Bounties, and will award a tiered medal, its tier increasing after each of the three Assignments.

Each of the Assignments is structured in the same way:
🔸Complete 13 Daily Bounties
🔸Complete 26 Daily Bounties
🔸Complete 39 Daily Bounties
🔸Complete 52 Daily Bounties
Repeat three times to level up the Operation Polaris badge to Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The challenge runs for 52 days, and completing 52 Daily Bounties takes 13 days if none are skipped, meaning that the minimum time to complete all three tiers is 39 days.
You will need to complete an average of 3 Bounties per day to stay on pace towards Gold.

As a reminder, you will be able to extend your inventory capacity by 100 slots for 30 days after purchase, and up to 5 C.A.R.G.O. can be active at the same time for a total of 500 extra inventory slots. C.A.R.G.O. will go into effect instantly after purchase and is not an item like other temporary boosts.

The Ingress team has revealed the details for the New Year 2026 event!

From December 19, 2025 at 18:00 UTC through January 5, 2026 at 18:00 UTC there will be two new Dispatch Campaigns active in the Scanner:


🔸New Year 2026 Celebration: A standard operation accessible to all Agents.
🔸New Year 2026 Premier: A high-value operation available for 15,000 CMU. Agents who successfully complete this elite track will be awarded the exclusive New Year 2026 Medal.

Additionally, various bonus will be active during the event timeframe:

🔸Apex effects increase to 4× AP, doubling their usual impact.
--> This bonus stays active during the January First Saturday, allowing you to stack the IFS 2x AP bonus for a total of 8x AP with Apex!
🔸Portal cooldown periods reduce by 25%, resulting in a 135-second cooldown for friendly Portals and a 225-second cooldown for neutral or enemy Portals.
🔸Resonator deployment limits expand to allow up to two Level 7 and two Level 8 Resonators per Agent.
🔸All XMP Bursters fire with the destructive power of a Level 8 XMP Burster.
--> The range of each level will remain unaffected.

25 cities around the world have had or will have a Shard spawn on one of their Portals and Agents will face off in this last challenge of the Series obtaining points as they traverse links.

The first day of the +Beta Shard Storm hasn't technically ended yet, with Castro Valley in California still playing their event, but the second day is already starting, with Wellington, New Zealand seeing their Shard spawn!

This second batch of 25 global cities will be the last to host a +Beta event, deciding the fate of the Series along with the Bounty Ops.
Provisional scoring for the first day of Shard Storm will be posted here in less than an hour, as soon as the last Day 1 event is over.
