Update 2.158.1 has been released for Ingress.

After being used last in 2020 for the Perpetua Hexathlon, 5 years ago, the Ingress team is using their first party ticketing system again!

Before, Niantic has mostly used a third party site called Splashthat to sell tickets or add-ons to Events, like Swag kits, access to the after party and so on. This has now shifted back to the first party platform Niantic is managing themselves.

At the moment, the "Events" button in the main menu which lead to this first party platform in the past still links to the events news site, but in the future, it might allow Agents to buy tickets directly from the Scanner again.

Niantic has released some small details about the Year of the Snake event!

Apparently, it will run from the 29th to the 31st local time and focus on Glyphing and Recharging, likely with rewards given out via a special Campaign during the event.

The Year of the Snake Celebration event has started to appear in the Campaign tab, giving us (probably) a glimpse at the newest Festive Badge, celebrating the year of the snake. If we take the past badges into consideration, this badge should be available for 2500 CMU, likely once the event starts.

By popular demand, the "Lunar New Year 2024" (Year of Dragon) medal will return to the in-app store for a limited time.

Available from January 25th, 16:00 UTC to January 28th, 16:00 UTC, this offer is exclusive to C.O.R.E. subscribers who have not yet acquired the medal.

Heads up! Niantic lowered the requirements for accessing Niantic Wayfarer down to Level 8, but introduced a bug which applies the new, lower restrictions to Recursed Agents as well.

If you have Recursed but have not yet reached Level 8 again you're currently locked out of submitting stuff or accessing Wayfarer via your Ingress account.

We have just reported on an issue that prevented some people from logging into the game. This issue has been resolved already.

For transparency sake, the main channel post has been removed as the issue was fixed within 10 minutes, leaving it up may cause confusion for other Agents even if it's edited.

Niantic has released Update 2.159.1 into the App Stores!

When starting the app, tips will now be shown on the loading screen with the intention of helping out new Agents.

A few fixes have also made their way to the Scanner. A fix for an animation with ADA was made in the tutorial, the animation for receiving a medal in the Dispatch screen was fixed and the mission button to close the details of a Bounty was re-added.
