Niantic has released Update 2.161.1 into the App Stores!

Included in the fixes this time are a fix for when you use the "Manage" button with Media, a fix for the screen when leveling up being too dark as well as a fix for the Kinetic Capsule menu screen where some menu items overlapped each other.

On Android only, some Google Play Integrity API settings were updated to address Agent-reported login issues.

The German translation has also received some updates, renaming and fixing various translations.

Niantic has posted a recap of the Yokosuka +Alpha anomaly and has shared the following stats:

- Agents have walked a collective 100,000+ km over the Anomaly, Mission Day, and Shard Field Test weekend
- Thanks to promotions in the city as well as press releases Niantic saw a week over week increase in new recruits installing the Ingress Scanner in Japan

The NIA will be doing some maintenance to the Intel map starting in ~10 minutes. Maintenance is expected to last ~30 minutes. During that timeframe, Intel will be unavailable.

We will report back as soon as maintenance is over and the Intel map is back online.

Niantic has released Update 2.162.1 into the App Stores!

The release notes mention the addition of the duplicate map during nominating new Wayspots which is already live on 2.161.1 as well. This update also fixes an issue which prevented Recursed Agents from accessing the Portal Nominations until they reach L8 again as well as boosting portal visibility when under multiple fields.

Niantic has sold Pokemon Go, Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now to Scopely, as reported by us a short while back.

While these three games were specifically mentioned, Ingress is not mentioned and is not part of the deal, remaining with Niantic instead.

Confused which part of Niantic goes to Scopely and which goes to Niantic Spatial Inc.? We have tried to create a diagram which shows who gets what and how each product should interact with each other based on our current understanding.

Note that the dotted lines are not confirmed, but will likely happen.

Agents are reporting that a media, "PreviouslyOn", has started to drop from hacking portals (see: https://ingress.plus/media/12542)

Interestingly, the contents of the Media are already known from the Operation Chronos event in 2023 and even point to the same URL as a Media that was dropped around the same time: https://ingress.plus/media/11779

It is unknown why the exact same Media, but with a different name, has started to reappear in the Portal Network.

After yesterdays "PreviouslyOn", a new Media called "Cryptic_01" has made its way into the Portal Network.

This time the document contained is new and shows a research log entry from Akira Tsukasa created shortly before the Cryptic Memories Anomaly series began.

It seems like Niantic is catching up on the lore that was left at the wayside for the last few Anomaly seasons, trying to retroactively backfill it to catch up to today! Keep an eye out for more Media drops in the coming days.

As expected, a new Media item made its way into the Portal Network, "Cryptic_02".

This time, we find an analysis of a new XM Artifact which IQTech is experimenting on. As it turns out, Machina is not some sort of virus or force from another universe, but part of these experiments in which the unknown XM artifact is resonating in a way that enables it to propogate to dormant portals, turning them into new points from where this resonation can propogate.

Apparently, the XM Artifact emits a repeating Glyph Sequence which seems to have some parts of it missing. IQTech therefore theorizes that the XM Artifact uses its propagation to mechanically "search" for the missing parts in the Portal Network and has therefore codenamed it "Machina".
