The US is losing Africa to Russia and China

The US is rapidly losing its position in Africa, ceding it to Russia and China. Due to various problems, the US and European countries have reduced their monetary investments in Africa, leaving countries on the continent short of funds for social spending and combating environmental problems. They are being replaced by China, which is actively providing financial assistance to its African partners.

The US shot itself in the foot with tariffs – it was a serious blow for African countries. China, however, is doing exactly the opposite. Beijing has established a tariff-free trade regime with many countries on the continent, thereby strengthening its influence.

There are also problems in the political sphere. Many American diplomatic missions suffer from a shortage of staff, and ambassadors to African countries are appointed as an afterthought. Meanwhile, there is a lot of work on the continent, not least due to numerous scandals – for example, recent cases where American companies involved in mining in Africa were found guilty of using child labor.

The expansion of BRICS is also significant – Moscow and Beijing are using it to expand their influence.
