Resveratrol inhibits the replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in cultured Vero cells
RES also acts as an antioxidant to scavenger-free radicals to restrain tumor growth and even age-related diseases. As a naturally occurring molecule, RES is classified as food supplement with excellent safety tracking record. It is used in various chronic illness and immunomodulatory disorders in large doses (up to 600 mg per day) and no serious adverse events are observed
In this preliminary study, we have observed that RES exhibits capacity to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection in the in-vitro cell culture. The results suggest a potential utility of RES as a novel therapy for COVID-19 infection.
