Spreading the Light Of Tawheed

🔸 They wish to extinguish the light of Allah, but Allah will perfect His Light, though the disbelievers detest it. 🔸

Mistakes have piled,
into mountains they’ve grown,
heart was always hard,
but now it’s pure stone.

I’ve felt shame before,
but this one is like no other,
crippling in lowliness,
on the night of Al-Qadr

How bold could a slave be,
to raise his hands and request
an abode by the the Throne,
while never put to the test?

By what virtue do I raise these hands,
when they carry only my sins?
and I beseech His salvation,
without action of my limbs?

“Mercy! Just your Mercy!”
What else should I speak,
while it is the key to Your Gardens,
which I desperately seek?

Some trials, along with the damage they caused, remain fresh in your mind for years. Sometimes, you relive small moments and experiences that remind you of those difficult tests you endured. Tests that broke every ounce of strength you had within you, except that small bit which Allāh سبحانه وتعالى allowed to persevere.

The memories and feelings come rushing back. The anxiety begins to heighten. The tears begin to well up. The wounds that had just began to heal start to bleed again. And just as the page began to get blurry and my racing thoughts caused me to lose any Khushū’ I may have had, my mind snapped back, and all the fear and anguish came to a halt as my worries clashed with the Āyāt:

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

Who sees you when you arise (alone at night for Tahajjud prayers).

And your movement among those who prostrate.

Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Such magnificent Words — are my eyes even worthy to behold them? Is my heart even eligible to preserve them?

The Qur’ān got me through it before, it will get me through it again.

and again.

and again.

Ibn Taymiyyah (raḥimahu Allāh) declared the Twelvers “atheist infidels” for the center pole that holds up their belief, which is belief in an infallible imam, and it's just one of several bases for their kufer.

Ibn Taymiyyah (raḥimahu Allāh) says:

“Rather, what is meant is that both sects [Ismāʿīliyyah and Rafidah] claim the need for an infallible person other than the Messenger, but the Twelvers consider the infallible one to be one of the Twelve, and they make the need for him in preserving and conveying the Shari'ah, and these are atheist infidels.

Da’wah comes with constant Fitnah.

Sometimes physical, like obstacles or enemies in your path, and sometimes spiritual, like Niyah becoming corrupted or threatened. Often the Fitnah is of a nature that cannot be “gotten rid of”, but rather, one has to push through it every single day and battle with it until its effect becomes futile upon the heart and intention.

As soon as one Fitnah evanesces, another moves in to take its place. The heart doesn’t catch a break nor a moment to breathe in this battle. Enjoy and savor the moments where you’re free from the enemies and free from the whispers of Shaytān and take advantage during those days — they don’t last long.

Something most don’t notice, but it has been pointed out consistently by someone very close: If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that there are many many Dā’ees, authors, scholars, and Muslim warriors who were world renowned and influential in their…
Relating to this topic, someone quoted to me a saying we have in Urdu:

چراغ تلے اندھیرا

Chirāgh talay andhera

Beneath the lantern is darkness.

One who dedicated his life to Da’wah should beware of exorting all his efforts in bringing light to others, and then neglecting to bring it to his own children whom he is responsible for before Allāh and leaving them in the dark.

Often times, people may marry when they’re young — possibly before they were guided or when they were less aware or less practicing — to someone who’s on the same level as them. As time passes, Allāh has mercy on them and they may progress immensely over the years Deen-wise, but there’s no guarantee that the spouse does or even will, and that’s where this dilemma usually begins and the schism starts.

Whether it be a legendary Islāmic author, scholar, intellectual, Mujāhid, revolutionary, etc. — if his wife is not on the same page and will not water the children with the pure Manhaj (to the extent they ought to be watered and looked after), they most likely will never reach the fathers caliber or even follow in his footsteps.

Brothers who might be in a similar family situation (and it’s possibly common) need to realize that they are going to have to cut time off their other activities and step up in a way fathers usually don’t have to and contribute where their wife lacks — if they want to have a chance at having righteous offspring. He would need to put in triple the effort to their Tarbiyyah than a normal father would, والله المستعان.

Quite often I hear of a situation like the ones described in the original post in relation to famous Muslim figures and then their disappointing children. May Allāh protect the children of the Muslimīn.

A Hadīth I’m Grateful for

Keep refreshing your knowledge of the Qur’ān, for I swear by Him in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad that it is more liable to escape than camels which are hobbled. [Muslim]

As of late, I’ve been attempting to keep my progress in Hifdh a secret, as I don’t see the need for anyone besides me to know how far along I am or whether I’ve finished or not. However, those I spend the majority of my time with usually are usually vaguely aware of my progress due to the competition between us. Recently, someone close asked me, “How does it feel to be so close to the end of your Qur’ān journey?”

Caught off guard, I hesitated for a moment, attempting to find an honest answer, before responding, “It never really ends, that’s the best part about it.”

One has to revise continuously and rigorously throughout his life to maintain the Kalām of Allāh سبحانه وتعالى in his heart. What most outsiders consider “the end” is really just the beginning of a new, beautiful turn in the journey.

During the most difficult days of my life, I was coincidentally memorizing Sūrat Yusūf. The Sūrah was revealed to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ as a consolation after some very difficult period of his life and messagehood, and it served as the greatest consolation to me, to an extent that I can’t describe.

After that season passed, Allāh سبحانه وتعالى granted me double the amount of happiness and good news as the hardship I had endured — an unwavering promise. During that time, I was reviewing my memorization and I reached the Āyah,

And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor [i.e., blessings] of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful. [Ibrāhīm:34]

An Āyah that has quickly become one of my favorites and echoes in my head upon realization of every blessing. It’s amazing how the Qur’ān has consolation for every difficulty and reminders for every moment of ease. No matter what one is going through, there is always a benefit to be extracted for his situation and pondered upon.

Even more of a blessing and benefit is when one can understand the Qur’ān as he recites it. Those who neglect to learn the language are only missing out on something indescribable. May Allāh سبحانه وتعالى enable us.

Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali رحمه الله تعالى said:

“Whoever is not able to stand at ‘Arafah, then let him come to a standstill at the limits that Allāh has set for him!

Whoever is not able to stay the night at Muzdhalifah, then let him stay in a state of obedience to Allāh, seeking closeness and nearness to Him!

Whoever is not able to slaughter his sacrificial animal at Mina, then let him slaughter his own lusts and desires so that might achieve that higher aim!

And whoever is not able to reach the House because it is far away, then let him direct his heart to the Lord of that House, for He is nearer to him than his own jugular vein!
