Northern Palestine: For the second day in a row, massive fires are still devouring forest areas surrounding Kiryat Shmona, near the border with Lebanon.

Fire in Qubayat, Akkar:

⬥ NNA reported the death of volunteer Amin M., after he fell on his head while helping to put out the fire in the town of Kafrtun.

⬥ One of Qubayat’s mayors, Youssef Nader, told Al-Jadeed: The fire did not start in one place, but rather in five places at the same time. (Which, yet again, indicates it was man-made, probably to harvest firewood).

Naim Qassem: «The step of naming Mikati to head the government is a bold step by Hezbullah. The picture is clear to us.»

He continued: «The first reason is that [...] the priority is to form the government, and therefore we will make sure to contribute to that.» (...)

«The fourth reason is that this choice [of Mikati] has Arab and international community reach.»

«The fifth reason is that it blocks the path to any Sunni-Shia fitna.»

Naim Qassem: «The understanding with the Free Patriotic Movement [FPM] is fine, and differences are normal and expected.»

Naim Qassem: «Saudi Arabia is uninterested and does not interfere in the Lebanese arena. It has no role in encouraging or obstructing Mikati, and its position was more negative with Saad Hariri.»

«No one dares to interfere or prevent Hezbollah from being in the government.»

Naim Qassem: «Hezbullah will participate indirectly through specialists in the government.»

He continued: «France exerted pressure to form a government before August ⁠4. The next government is a allegedly rescue government that will prepare for the 2022 elections. Mikati was informed by the French and the Americans that they accept his premiership. No Arab country voiced against it either.»

Naim Qassem: Three reasons have caused the current crisis in Lebanon:

«The first reason is America, with its sanctions, imposing Syrian displacement, restricting banks in Lebanon, Caesar's law, and restricting the Lebanese-Syrian relationship.»

«The second reason is the sectarian structure of the Lebanese system. This structure has made the percentage of friction very large in any infrastructure project and caused many problems. This structure protects corruption.»

«The third reason is the existence of an economic imbalance, meaning that there are no economic plans in Lebanon that contribute to increasing production.»

"We had previously asked PM Hariri not to resign from the government, but the Americans pressured him and what this is what happened."

Naim Qassem: «Hezbollah bears a part of the responsibility because of participating in the state.»

«Hezbullah is doing its upmost best to help people, even taking part of its own fighters' salaries and using the money in aid projects and assisting Lebanese municipalities.»

Naim Qassem: «Heading to the East will not substitute for heading to the West» (in terms of investment and cooperation).

«We called to import Iranian oil in Lebanese pounds, but the Lebanese state did not accept under the pretext of sanctions.»

Naim Qassem: «The Iranian oil will come when the government fails to uphold its duties.»

«In the gasoline and diesel file, there is great corruption and corrupt people, but there must be a government that plays its role, and the judiciary to end this.»

Naim Qassem: «Hassan Diab's government should have taken decisions to rationalize the subsidies so that the governor of Banque du Liban would not remain the decision-maker and control the market, but PM Diab refused to do his duty.»

«We have previously submitted proposals of law to lift immunities for presidents, ministers and representatives, since 1992, however some parties refused to vote on it.»

«We had previously called for the disclosure of the technical investigation about the port explosion to find out who brought the ammonium nitrate and how it exploded in order to end the media political accusations. Announcing it will help the families to obtain insurance money.»
