Negotiations for new cabinet:

During the past up to early this week, the general atmosphere between Aoun and Mikati was positive with indicators that a government formation is imminent. However, unexpectedly, Mikati announced that he "senses" Aoun got 2/3 of the ministers.

Aoun countered by saying he did not change any names or portfolios, claiming it was Mikati who has changed the names of several Christian ministers that were supposed to represent President Aoun.

This effectively obstructed the efforts to form a government this week.
⋯ Later on, Saudi state media reported that PM-designate Mikati has been warned, likely by foreign governments, that Aoun should not get to name the majority of Christian ministers in the government.

Was it the warning that caused the backtrack in the formation process!?
US Ambassador Dorothy Shea, after a phone call with President Michel Aoun:

"The USA will allow the transfer of Egyptian gas through Jordan and Syria to northern Lebanon."

"Negotiations are underway with the World Bank to secure financing for the Egyptian gas, repairs and strengthening the electricity transmission lines, and the required maintenance of gas pipelines."
⋯ Two important points:

1- Egypt buys Israeli gas.

2- USA, Egypt, and Jordan have not normalized their relationship with Syria yet. Joint projects of this magnitude will never materialize before a regional deal with Syria.
⋯ With the American sanctions on Syria (Caesar Act) and occupation of north-east Syria, Damascus will not cooperate with the USA, neither will the USA cooperate with Damascus.

Without Syria, Lebanon has no access to Jordan and Egypt.
⬥ "Al-Aytam" petrol stations announced that they ran out of petrol and will cease operating.

⬥ Bahman Hospital, Dar Al-Aman for the elderly, and the rest of the health centers affiliated with Al-Mabarat Association are threatened with closure due to the fuel crisis.
The Jordanian Ministry of Energy: Jordan is ready to provide all possible support to Lebanon, by providing it with electricity from the Jordanian network and delivering Egyptian gas.
⋯ One a side note, Jordan is among the most dependent in the world on foreign energy sources, with 93% of the country's energy needs coming from imported oil and natural gas from neighboring Middle Eastern countries.

As of 2020, Jordan started to import Israeli gas to generate electricity in 10's of billion worth of natural gas purchase.

Is Lebanon going to use Israeli gas for electricity!?
