Elections 2022: The percentage of public sector employees voting around Lebanon has reached 13% so far

Final expatriate voting results, where 142,041 voted.

The number of votes cast in each district is capable of highly influencing the results of several parliamentary seats, including a possible breach in Hezbullah's lists in south Lebanon in case of a low turnout.
The candidate for the Shiite seat in the Baalbek-Hermel district, on the Lebanese Forces party list, Abbas Al-Jawhari, is offering large sums of money to families in exchange for handing him their identifications till the end of the election day.

A low turnout would allow the LF and opposition not only to win the Christian and Sunni seats, but possibly a Shiite seat representing the province.

When city planners envisioned a subway for Beirut

1) 1968 USSR study
“A team of 4 engineers spent one month studying travel patterns and were able to come up with a preliminary plan for multiple metro lines for the city, including typical cross sections, ridership numbers, etc. at an estimated cost of 250-280 million USD, rolling stock included”, Nabil Nakkash, a researcher in transport, reported on LinkedIn in 2016.

2) 1995 ‘Greater Beirut Transportation Plan’. Done in partnership with French agencies, one of the long-term scenarios had a 38-km commuter rail service line from Jounieh to Damour, in addition to two metro lines.
