Public security thwarts an Israeli plan: bombings target participants in the memorial between the Al-Sayed Shrine and the Sports City

The Lebanese public security thwarted a large-scale Israeli terrorist plot aimed at carrying out simultaneous bombings during the commemoration of the war at the shrine of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and at the sports city in Beirut

The operation was carried out in complete secrecy under the direct supervision of the Lebanese Public Security Directorate, in order to preserve the secrecy of the investigations that are still ongoing to reveal the group's external connections.

LAccording to the information, behind the scheme is a foreigner named "Martin", who resides in Germany and travels in Europe. The investigations showed that he was the main operator who was communicating with the elements of the network through encrypted applications, without them knowing each other, while security sources confirm his connection with Israeli intelligence.

The case began after the arrest of a Syrian with Ukrainian citizenship and married to a Ukrainian woman, who was caught in possession of an explosive device in the shape of a battery that he intended to hide in a motorcycle, then the investigations led to the discovery of a car prepared for bombing, which had undergone special preparations to load it with explosives, before being hidden in the Batrun neighborhood in preparation for its use in the attack.

In simultaneous operations, a force from the public security raided the areas of Armoun, Khalda and Dohat al-Hoss, and arrested a number of suspects of Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian nationalities

Five have been arrested including two Lebanese with German passports.

Al-Mahatta learned that the Director General of Public Security informed the President of the Republic about the details of the operation, and it was agreed to hold a press conference in the coming days to reveal the details of this qualitative security achievement.
