Another corpse found.

The corpse, found in the sea off Sarafand, belongs to Mohammed Hassan Assaf.

They all drowned during attempting to illegally immigrate by sea.
The issue today with the government formation is whether Hezbullah should be represented by any minister.

You can notice, unlike all the previous times, no party is asking for anything. No party is demanding anything, it's just Hezbullah and Amal this time speaking...why?
I mentioned earlier in my threads that the USA has effectively veto-ed Hezbullah's presence in the government and threatened to sanction anyone that will work with them.

- That's why all parties are satisfied with what they got. Especially at a time when Lebanon is not sustainable anymore.

- USA has no issue with Amal being represented in the government, its main issue is with Hezbullah. Yet, Amal won't support USA in isolating Hezbullah politically. What comes next makes Hezbullah uncomfortable: if it is successfully isolated from the political life (government), despite having got most votes in the elections, no one can forecast what will be enforced on Lebanon by the USA :

If the USA is able to isolate the strongest party, the USA can easily ask the government anything.

What could go wrong?

- Just recently, the USA demanded the transitional government to sit with Israel to negotiate the border dispute. Trump wants to be seen as the man who made Lebanon and Israel sit together and negotiate, after 30 years of no direct talks.

- Hezbullah fears that without its presence in the government, USA could reenact what happened in 2008, after Hezbullah (and Amal) resigned. Back then, the government was spearheaded by PM Foad and Jumblatt. At USA orders, as Jumblatt said, and as a revenge for the 2006 July War, the government ordered to confiscate Hezbullah's communication network. This network was targeted by Israel, and seen as what kept Hezbullah able to act during the war.
Why is the ministry of finance requested?

- Because it's the "third signature" next to the President and the PM. After the Taef Agreement, the ministry was given to the Shia sect (represented today by Hezbullah and Amal). At some point, it was given to Hariri as a compromise to the Syrians by Nabih Berri.

- Getting the "third signature" is to ensure no one can isolate the Shiites.
Can we get a non-sectarian system?

- The demands of X seat and X position will remain, as long as the system itself is built like this. A non-sectarian system is the only way to end this freak show.

- Opponents of Hezbullah insist that Hezbullah must give up its weapons for a non-sectarian system to exist. There is no institutional correlation, and Hezbullah isn't using the weapons internally to pressure anyone. It would put Hezbullah's and Amal's wide public support at play.

These are betting that no weapons = Hezbullah getting crushed by Israel = No more Hezb.

- Ask most supporters of other parties, especially Kataeb or Lebanese Forces. They're often against an election with Lebanon as one constituency, a proportional representation, and the end of the religious distribution of seats. Indeed, it would mean the end of some parties and of the power of others.
Lebanon needs urgent aid, and what led to this situation is the corruption of the political parties and the criminal negligence of all

These parties are the ones responsible for putting Lebanon in this situation and getting blackmailed by the USA. No aid before confronting Hezb.

Lebanon was created to be employed in the service of a specific agenda, meaning as a service corridor for the major powers in the region. What happened was that it turned into an influential party in the region, and became a stumbling block to many projects.
The crux of the crisis is precisely this.
Interior Minister Muhammad Fahmy issued a statement in which he said:

“Regarding the call for a complete closure again, and despite the need to take more stringent measures to curb the accelerating spread of the epidemic, the Media Office confirms that such a decision belongs to the Committee for the Follow-up of Preventive Measures and Procedures for the New Corona Virus, pointing out that the Lebanese community is not a “game” between hands to be subjected to a week to close and another to re-open.”

Fahmy’s office wished “the concerned ministry would carry out its duties that had it abided by and the recommendations of the Ministry of the Interior since the outbreak of the epidemic in Lebanon would have avoided shedding of responsibilities, right and left.”
This came after the ministry of health objected the weak implementation of the COVID-19 procedures by security forces (Ministry of Interior) and asked for a 2 weeks lockdown.

Gasoline is missing in a large number of gas stations in Bekaa, Beirut and the suburb leading to congestion at the entrances of the stations in the rest of the regions. As I mentioned yesterday, Beqaa was already out of fuel.

The reasons are two:

1- Sanctions on Al Amana and Al Aytam gas stations. Companies are not giving them any.

2- Lack of fuel in the whole market due to the lack of dollars and facilitation from the central bank.
