Have you ever during your research encountered an entity called the snake emperor? I'll give you full context with an example. You see, I'm a graduated anthropologist (not something I like to brag about). While I was going through my uni courses, I had to go on a mandatory field research in Western Serbia. We were collecting folk beliefs for a case study, to put the long story short. While conducting our research, I met one old lady who told me the following story: 100 years earlier in her village there lived one man. He had a wife, kids and a farm, nothing weird or special about him. One night he had a (lucid?) dream. In that dream, if I remember correctly, he saw a giant snake that could talk and it told:"Hear my word. I'm the snake emperor. You lead a good life and you're a good man. Because of that, I want to give you a gift of understanding and being able to speak with animals. Once you wake up, you'll be able to do that. You must tell noone about your gift, otherwise, you'll die as soon as tell someone about it." And when he woke up, he was indeed able to understand and talk with animals. So, my question to you is have you ever heard of this or any similar entity?

My assumption is it is an older form of Weles

Sounds like whimsical chthonic entity behavior, maybe some centuries of boring christianity were too much for that Naga lord and decided to play games
