An Effective Prevention Against HIV?

It seems like the search might be ending. On June 18, the FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) approved Lenacapavir, a drug to prevent HIV that only needs to be taken twice a year.

Lenacapavir currently carries a price tag of 28,000 USD per person per year. This is expensive, even in developed countries. While the drug manufacturer  mentions this large price is the consequence of the R&D cost, questions remain over whether it can be accessed equitably. There is hope that generic version of the drug  can be produced  for as little as 35 to 45 USD per person per year. This is still in the higher price range when converted to local currencies of developing countries.

So, the question is: Will this new drug be accessible and durable through time? Or will it be a medical fortress only for the financially able?
