Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) appoints new CEO
After the recent reshuffling which took place; in the government's ministries that saw, the Former CEO of EIH, Mamo Mihretu, was appointed as the governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia.
Abdurehman Eid Tahir, has been appointed to take charge of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, which is responsible for managing the portfolio of state-owned enterprises, which have assets valued at around $38 billion and annual revenues of $6.2 billion.
Abdurehman had previously served as the deputy CEO of EIH and was a member of the reform team in the Somali Region of Ethiopia.
After the announcement of the appointment by the company, Abdurehman took charge of EIH, effective from January 25.

By inviting leaders and movers of the African economy in different sectors and positions to discuss issues and initiatives to achieve the goal of shared prosperity.

The Media Innovation Collaboratory of Florida, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa and other media companies, corporations, and associations, is about to conduct a three-month accelerator program for Ethiopian media professionals, journalists, educators, and communicators from February- April.
The program hopes to achieve ways to, Reimagine news, communication, and information in ways that sustain our communities' growth. In doing so, the initiative plans to build regional skills and capacity for news and information and also co-create new methods of communicating with communities on critical issues such as climate change, economic sustainability, gender-based violence, and global health crises.
Registrations for the program have already passed.

H.E. Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdullah, recently held talks with the Minister of State & Special Assistance to the Prime minister of Pakistan on hosting a pre-delegation forum to increase the participation of the business community from the industrial cities of Punjab to be part of the business delegation that will fly to Addis Ababa on March 5-10, to explore business, trade and investment opportunities.
The pre-delegation forum intends to give first-hand information about the opportunities that lie in Ethiopia.
H.E. Ambassador Jemal mentioned that invitations to the business community of Ethiopia have been sent and that it is likely that a delegation would also take part in the forum.

After the appointment of the new CEO, Hanna Arayselassie, the postal service provider has seen different reforms over the past year. Including the Rebranding of the office’s public image, improvement of its financial standing by restructuring debts, and decreasing operational costs.
These steps have enabled the company to record more than ETB 568 million in revenue in the first six months of 2015. Which; is a 40% increase compared to the same time last year.

The international money transfer application for instant money transfers, which allows users from abroad to transfer money to accounts in banks with a zero transaction fee, is back in business!
The service was previously on hold due to a suspension placed on the platform by the Central Bank of Ethiopia regarding the legality of the service. The Central Bank lifted the ban in June 2022.
