Msi gf65 thin 10ue (3060) thermal pads thickness?

I've searched online and came across different answers. Seemed inconsistent, some said 1mm + 1.5mm and others 1mm + 2mm. So I'm just confused. I would prefer thermal pads over putty, just preference. Thanks in advance.

I can’t play online games with my internet even though the Wi-Fi works

Hello, for some time now I haven’t been able to play online games on my laptop, such as Overwatch or Minecraft. As soon as I connect, I’m immediately disconnected, then I manage to reconnect for a few seconds before being disconnected again, and this keeps repeating. However, Google, Spotify and downloads work perfectly.

Here’s what I know so far:

It’s not an Ethernet cable issue (I’ve tried two different cables).

It’s not a Wi-Fi issue either, because even when I use connection sharing from my boyfriend’s PC connected to the same Wi-Fi, the result is the same (and his PC connects to the Wi-Fi and plays games without any problem).

When I try sharing my phone’s mobile data, everything works fine but I would prefer to use the wifi of our apartement.

I think it might be a problem with my network card (Intel(R) Wi-Fi AX201 160MHz) or my laptop, but I don’t know what to do since It is already up to date, same for my other devices.

Trackpad not clicking brand new MSI Katana HX I9 14900 / 5070 (Fix included in post)

So... I recently purchased a brand new MSI Katana MSI Katana HX I9 14900 / 5070 with a stock 512gb ssd / 16gb (2x8) laptop.

I upgraded the ram from 16gb to 64gb and upgraded the SSD from 512gb to 4tb.

Sometime today I log on to my laptop to play a game and I notice the trackpad is tracking but the click isnt working.

Things I tried

* FN + F4 (disable trackpad)

* Windows update

* Installed / reinstalled trackpad drivers

* Updated bios

I noticed the trackpad wasnt clicking in the bios as well, which means that its not driver based.

I decided to put the original ram and original ssd back in and take it bck to the store for a refund. After I took the bottom case off the trackpad started clicking....

I put the bottom case back on and tigtened the screws and ....no click.

... I thought surely its not this... so I loosened the screws on the bottom of the case near the trackpad and VOILA ... trackpad clicks as per usual.

So... after I dug deeper i realised the bottom case wasnt clicked in properly (bottom case needs to be clicked in hard) and then the screws can be tighened as per normal.

Hopefully this helps someone who I is in a similar situation.

My MSI GF65 Thin recently decided that half of the keys should stop working. Any known fixes? More info inside

I’ve gone into BIOS and confirmed those keys do not work inside of it. Tried updating everything I can. Happened around the time I enabled the F6 key (camera) for the first time, but I’m unsure if they’re related. Is there anything I can do short of sending it to a shop to be repaired?

My laptop won't shut down.

What the noscript says, whenever I use the "shut down pc" option it just doesnt shut down. The screen goed out and so do the keyboard Lights, but the White Power button light stays on and the fans keep spinning.

Is this a known issue?

My MSI Alpha 15 is slowly dying

I’ve had my MSI laptop for over 2 years. In the first year I only had a microphone issue. In the second year, one of the fans failed and I got it replaced, and everything was fine. A month ago, while playing GTA V with RTX on, the power went out. I shut the laptop down properly afterward, but the next morning it started acting weird it would turn on, then shut down even on minimal load or before login, and wouldn’t boot again for a while. Multiple repair shops suggested replacing the RAM without checking the laptop, but I wanted a proper diagnosis. One shop said it was an IC issue and claimed to fix it, but the problem came back. MSI’s service center said the motherboard needed replacement. Finally, an independent technician said my CPU might be weak as it was getting low voltage and one of the fans wasn’t spinning at low load but strangely, after his diagnosis, the laptop started working again and hasn’t shut down since. However, over time different components have been failing: first the mic, then some keyboard keys, then high CPU temps (80°C during simple tasks), and now one USB port stopped working. I’ve always taken good care of the laptop, so I’m confused and frustrated. Based on these symptoms, what should I do next?
( i mainly use my laptop with externals including an external monitor )
Tldr: Laptop components are breaking down randomly after 2 years of use

BDOS on a brandnew MSI CROSSHAIR

Hello guys,

Just bought a brand new Crosshair 16 HX AI D2XWGKG ULTRA 7 255hx/Rtx 5070 (1week ago) and got my 2nd BDOS after leaving STEAM..... No problem so far while gaming.

It just reboot with a message like

Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you.

watchdog.sys

My BIOS was updated with Windows Update (I didnt asked for it, I would ve prefer a clean install), but it's the last version ( I have the same version but published at a different date than the MSI one on their website)

USER scenario is : MSI AI engine.

Battery on 80% max power, always plugged.

Everything from Windows Update was updated

What could be the problem ? Intel drivers maybe ? Should I reinstall the same BIOS ? Is it a common thing ?

Thanks guys

What usb c dp alt mode specifications does the MSI cyborg 15 a12v have?

I´m looking to buy an 4k 160hz monitor and want to use it with the dp alt mode of the usb port of the msi cyborg 15. But i don´t know if the port even supports this high of a bandwidth and MSI themselves just declare it on their website as dp alt mode via usb 3.1 without mentioning any specific spec or standard for it. I searched for hours at the internet but the only thing i found was that some test declares it as dp 1.4 but i still don´t know if it got 2 or 4 lanes to work with. I also can´t buy the monitor first and test it and the only display i could test it on was a uwqhd display with 60hz which is shown in gpu z to only be using 2 lanes as dp 1.2 speed but that should be normal, since you don´t need more for this resolution/refreshrate.

Does anyone has this model and it hooked up to a high resolution display or any info about the dp specifications?

Raider Palmrest & Keyboard Assembly on Vector?

Anyone know if you could buy a replacement palmrest & keyboard for a Raider 16 HX AI A2XW and install it in a Vector 16 HX AI A2XW? I really wanted the macroing capabilities of the Steelseries keyboard like my older Vector GP66 had and I don’t want to just return the new unit at this point even if that was possible. I thought I had checked before ordering the Vector that it still came with the Steelseries keyboard and I was apparently confusing it with the Raider specs. 🤦‍♂️ If just a keyboard swap is possible, even better, but it looks like these are custom formed around the keyboards.

Msi Bravo 15 C7V sudden crashes

Hi there!

I've had this one problem with my laptop that doesn't seem to have any fix and it resolves around serie Bravo 15 C7V.

The laptop just randomly while using, shuts down and goes into a recovery mode that doesn't do anything and sends me to the troubleshooting mode of windows. Recently i discovered a temporary solution which is called battery discharge that takes around 20 minutes and the laptop turns back on like nothing happened.

I also wanna add that i did put an extra m.2 1tb disk and a new set of ddr5 32gb from kingston. Im not certain if that problem occured before that upgrade. I did indeed update BIOS to the newest version TWICE.

The problem did occur on windows 10 as on windows 11, for some reason it took a while for it to reappear on windows 10. When it comes to 11, it happened right after a fresh install of the system.

There's also another problem of the laptop just completly dropping the fps in games to critical levels, putting fans on max speed(even after turning the game off) and the only thing that fixes it is rebooting the laptop. I tried using dragon center to control the fans in some sort of way but it didnt help. I didnt try working with overclocking in any way.

I hope there's some sort of fix that this community is aware of that would help me with this laptop.

Vector 16 HX AI - BSOD 0x116 on Wake (Discrete Mode) & BIOS .114 Regression

Hi everyone,

[Vector-16-HX-AI-A2XWHG - BSOD 0x116 on Wake (Discrete Mode) & BIOS .114 Regression | MSI Global English Forum](https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/vector-16-hx-ai-a2xwhg-bsod-0x116-on-wake-discrete-mode-bios-114-regression.416651/)

I am experiencing a persistent **VIDEO\_TDR\_FAILURE (0x00000116)** BSOD on my MSI Vector 16 HX AI. I have performed extensive testing and isolated the issue to a specific scenario involving the MUX Switch, AC Power, and a suspected BIOS regression.

Here are my system details and findings:

**System Information:**

* **Model:** Vector 16 HX AI A2XWX / A2XWHG
* **BIOS Version:** E15M3IMS.114 (Current)
* **VBIOS Version:** 98.05.56.00.0B (Latest)
* **OS:** Windows 11

**The Issue:** The system crashes with a BSOD (0x116 - nvlddmkm.sys) when waking up from "Sleep" mode.

**Crucial Isolation Step:** **This issue does NOT occur when using Integrated Graphics (MSHybrid mode).** It is exclusive to Discrete Graphics Mode via the MUX switch.

**Steps to Reproduce:**

1. Set the laptop to **Discrete Graphics Mode** (via MUX switch).
2. Connect the **AC Power Adapter** (Issue observed while plugged in; battery behavior not fully tested for this crash).
3. Put the laptop to **Sleep**.
4. Wake the laptop.
* *Note:* If the crash does not happen immediately on the first wake, put it back to sleep (using Fn + Sleep shortcut) and leave it for **about 15 minutes**.
5. **Result:** Upon waking, the system hangs and crashes with BSOD 0x116.

**Driver & BIOS Observations:**

**1. With Latest Generic Nvidia Drivers (581.80, 591.44):**

* The system consistently crashes with the 0x116 BSOD upon waking up from sleep (especially after a 15-minute duration).

**2. With MSI OEM Driver (573.22):**

* The BSOD does *not* occur.
* **HOWEVER:** There is a power state bug. When plugged in and put to sleep, the DGPU does not fully power down. The Power LED remains **Orange** (indicating DGPU is active/awake).
* *Contrast:* On battery mode with this driver, the Orange light turns off correctly.

**Conclusion & Suspected Regression:** It appears the GPU is failing to handle power state transitions (Sleep -> Wake) correctly while on AC power in Discrete Mode.

* The **OEM driver** masks the issue by keeping the GPU "awake" (Orange light), preventing the crash but failing to save power.
* The **newer Nvidia drivers** likely attempt a proper sleep cycle, which fails to wake up correctly, triggering the TDR crash.

I strongly suspect this is a regression in **BIOS E15M3IMS.114**. I do not recall experiencing this behavior on the previous BIOS version (**E15M3IMS.112**).

Has anyone else faced this with the .114 BIOS?

Thank you.
