Singapore state-owned investor Temasek Holdings Pte continues to see China as an important market, despite setbacks due to regulatory crackdowns and Covid lockdowns. Temasek will hunt for opportunities in artificial intelligence, city infrastructure and what it brands as “deep tech,” a phrase often referring to cutting edge technology such as semi-conductors, managing director Martin Fichtner said during an earnings call on Tuesday. China has been one of the best performing markets despite volatility, said Temasek chief investment officer Rohit Sipahimalani. “Most of the regulatory headwinds are behind us.”

Now, the company will cease operating its Tonic facilities and move all of its bike and treadmill manufacturing to Rexon, Chief Supply Chain Officer Andrew Rendich told Bloomberg News in an interview. “We are going back to nothing but partnered manufacturing,” he said. “It allows us to ramp up and ramp down based on capacity and demand.”

Time will tell who has their forecast correct, but for right now, it is clear that oil traders, rather than producers, are driving the price action.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics said Tuesday that a release circulating online purporting to show hotly-anticipated June inflation figures was a forgery. “We are aware of a fake version of the June 2022 Consumer Price Index news release that is being circulated online,” BLS spokesperson Cody Parkinson said in an emailed statement.
The Labor Department agency is scheduled to release the June CPI report on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in Washington, Parkinson said.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google plans to slow hiring for the remainder of the year in the face of a potential economic recession, Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said Tuesday in an email to staff.
