Happy Thanksgiving Family. It was the Lord who initiated days of remembrance and celebrations. There is something good that happens to our souls when we interrupt our routines to pause and consider our lives and more importantly, consider God. Thanksgiving is born out of that tradition. Today our prayer is multifaceted:

We first look back with thanksgiving at all the Lord has done in our midst. Not just the easy and the good, but also the difficult and the painful. It’s there that we grow and mature. It's there where our faith challenged but then strengthened.

We are thankful for our present situation as well. We stop to consider what the Lord is currently doing in our midst. The blessings, the trials, the people we love and who love us back. All a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

Finally, we look ahead with thankful anticipation at what the Lord will do with us and in us. We dream and then we position our hearts to do the work of advancing. Advancing the gospel and advancing our maturity in the faith. Advancing our efforts to reach the lost and to love our neighbors.

Yes, days like Thanksgiving are important and good for our souls. We remember, we ponder and we dream - all with the thankfulness of our adoption into the family of God. All with the hope of God’s faithfulness to finish the work He has started in each of us.
