The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) is listed on the official website of the United Nations (UN) as a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO)!👇

Translation: BESATZUNGSZONE = OCCUPATION ZONE

And by the way... the indicated languages being listed in there are an interesting combination, don't you think?


But why is this very country these days just commonly referred to as "Germany" with the acronym "GER"?

May be we'll find the answer within the SHAEF LAW No. 52, ARTICLE VII (Definitions):

e) "GERMANY" shall mean the area constituting "Das Deutsche Reich" as on 31 December 1937.

Incidentally, these laws were never repealed!
