Russian 'Sukhoi' fighter jets were spotted in the area but did not engage, along with attack helicopters. It remains unclear whether the helicopters belong to Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham forces or the Russian Air Force, though local sources suggest they are more likely to be from HTS. These helicopters fired on pro-Assad fighter positions.

Reports of Russian jets providing cover fire for the helicopters cannot be verified at this time. This marks the first instance of Russian jets patrolling the Syrian skies at this intensity since the fall of the former regime.

Clashes were also heard very close to the Russian 'Khmeimim' air base.

Simultaneously, the Islamic Council of the Alawite minority has called for protests against the new government.
