Russia needs to mobilize and get this thing over with. Even if Ukraine's offensive towards Kursk is just for PR, it is massively embarassing for the Russians.

Putin cannot fight a half-war and expect it to all work out. You either go in fully, or you don't go in at all. Yes, Russia is making slow and steady progress, but it's not enough, at least not if the goal is to completely topple Ukraine.
