What's the point of infection mods? Which one is the best?
I saw Fungal Infection: Spore and thought it was pretty cool, but I don't fully understand how this type of mod is meant to be used in a pack. What other mods should I be pairing with it?
I've always thought that Minecraft should have more tower defense mechanics where you gradually get invaded by tougher mobs and need tougher defenses. Are infections good for that? Should I be pairing Spore with MineColonies or something? Do I need to ensure I place my base within a certain distance of an infected biome or something for it to work that way?
I remember over a decade ago I played a mod pack called Voltz where you could build all these missiles and nukes and guns and stuff and I had a good time but I was just playing with my brother instead of being on a pvp server or something so when we actually got to the point where we had nuclear ICBMs up and running it was kind of like "What the hell do I use this on? Hey bro, do you want to go make a bunker over there so I can nuke you? No? I guess we're done then." Nothing in Minecraft really justifies using the crazy ass weapons that some late game tech mods will give you, so is that the point of infection mods? It's this big looming threat that you can't really stop that just gets worse and worse until late game where it's so bad that the only way to beat it is to use all the strongest bombs and such from the strongest mods, right? But that still seems hard to balance, given that as the infection mod creator you don't know what mods the player is using to defend themselves.
You could easily have the infection grow too strong too fast for nuking it to be a viable option, or you could have OP weapons that are too easy to get that trivialize the threat, or it could be that it's easy enough to defeat the infection with vanilla items that nuking it is just kind of redundant. Maybe you need to fiddle with config files or item recipes to balance it. Have any of you done this? Is there a good infection based mod pack I should be playing?
Bonus question: Can Spore stuff spawn in the nether? Can I make it ONLY spawn in the nether? Would maybe be a good compromise to let the scary infection mod destroy the dimension that doesn't contain all my builds.

Gotta read denoscription before install
Oooooof I need to properly read mod denoscriptions before blindly installing them because the noscript said so.
For those wondering the denoscription stated \\"Introducing Uranium, a mod designed to take your Minecraft experience to a new level of challenge by introducing intentional lag. This mod makes the game unplayable, testing your patience and resilience\\"
Have been wondering since yesterday why is my modpack unplayable.

Divinity is an effect from Spectrum (or in this case, the (neo)forge port/fork, Pastel) that causes temporary hardcore mode (like actual permadeath) in exchange for buffs, i did not know about this until now as i am yet to start Pastel. only 10 mins thankfully...
