I read this essay about the "The Composition Over Inheritance Principle" from GoF and applied it to Python.

The main idea is that because of some of the features of Python as a multi-paradigm language, sometimes the design patterns are not as useful as the underlying principles. It says:

“There’s a crucial lesson here: design principles like Composition Over Inheritance are, in the end, more important than individual patterns like the Adapter or Decorator. Always follow the principle. But don’t always feel constrained to choose a pattern from an official list.”

And it also discusses how some extra features of Python can seem intimidating to use instead of design patterns but make more trouble as the project grows.
