$1B American Recovery has been Allocated.

This week the Alabama State Legislature began and ended their first Special Session of 2023. The only legislative issue they were required to tackle was how to allocate the remaining $1B from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). According to GFOA the funding provided under ARPA allows state and local governments to make strategic investments in long-lived assets, rebuild reserves to enhance financial stability, and cover temporary operating shortfalls until economic conditions and operations normalize. The legislature voted to spend the money on broadband, health care, water/sewer, and storm drain improvements. Next week they go back into the regular session. Many bills will be filed and moving.

Senator Butler-(R) District 2 (from Harvest to Madison), filed SB53 which seeks to allow the Department of Defense to ignore our Alabama law banning vaccine passports.
The Biden DOD cronies want to have their parties at venues in Alabama and force their vaccine mandates on anyone who will be in attendance or employed by the venue to work the event.
Since our state law stops them from doing this outside of their federal installations, Sen. Butler decided to become a pawn in the Biden game by filing SB53 which would obliterate our state ban on vaccine passports.
The committee hearing on this terrible bill is Wednesday so call Senator Butler’s office today at (334) 261-0884. Tell him to reverse course now and withdraw SB53 RIGHT AWAY!
