Remember, tomorrow we are defending people’s homes, which means resident voices over everything. Also remember that residents are NOT a hive mind, and it’s standard for people to have different, sometimes conflicting, ideas about what kind of defense they want during encampment clearing scenarios. We learn how to best support by showing up in real solidarity with our houseless neighbors and talking to them about their situation, their lives, and their desires. Often large crowds alone are enough to deter the city from eviction; be mindful of the amount of force being shown and be careful not to escalate things unnecessarily. Stand in solidarity, be respectful as you’re in/around someone else’s living space, and bring your passion!

On sight at 15th & Locust as a number of the City’s homeless are being evicted from an encampment. Police presence is noticeable, certain exits are closed, it is raining. Some residents expressed interest in City services, others have not. Service Day begins…

#OTG There are currently seven officers and an OHS official underground at 15th and Locust bullying this section of the encampment, making them move their belongings arbitrarily, and degrading them for refusing subpar shelter options
#scanner Unit asking where the bike teams are, they're still at 12 and Chestnut
#scanner Requesting a cop car at 12 and Chestnut, possibly to bring an arrestee (somewhat inaudible)
#scanner Police opening up Chestnut at 4th once the fire dept. clears out
#scanner Announcement that "safety is a full time job" and to take care when on your shift [paraphrased]
💖Thank you to all the people who showed up to stand in solidarity with our neighbors at the PATCO station for eviction defense. We keep us safe! 💖
#OTG Cleaning crews powerwashing one of four or five of the sections of the PATCO camp, while cops harass another to move their stuff. By the pace everything is moving, this is expected to be an all day affair.

#OTG An OHS official and a handful of cops are traveling between the different sections of the encampment between 12th and 15th along Locust. Cops are mostly standing around while OHS harasses residents. There is a powerwasher slowly making its way west, still on 12th street now. Residents are mopping their own floors and still being told to move their things. Support as cops and maintenance people make their way to 15th is appreciated. At the pace they are moving, it will be over the course of hours. We will post updates as we have them. Thank you everyone for coming out and making it known they cannot act unseen on the houseless!

#OTG It has become clear that the cleaning crew has no intention of drying the floor after the power washing, which means residents are unable to move their tents back to their living spot. If they power wash everything down here, there will be nowhere for people to keep their stuff without it getting soaked. Tarps needed
