https://www.octoberstrike.com/ is not responding. Is this movement already dead? Do we have any idea how many people are participating? There’s only about 6k people in this subreddit, not exactly viral or popular…

Biden's Infrastructure plan has jobs that pay $45-50/hour

https://news.yahoo.com/president-biden-says-jobs-pay-150318117.html

"I think of one word when I think of climate change: jobs, good-paying jobs," he said. "Not $7 or $12 or $15, but $45, $50 an hour, plus healthcare. That's what is needed."

"Biden's $45 figure is more than six times higher than the Federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, which has remained unchanged since 2009, when Biden was vice president in the Obama administration.

Businesses are increasingly finding it difficult to attract talent by offering less than $15 an hour, making that a de facto minimum wage in some instances."

Can Disney fire me for participating in the strike?

I work custodial at Disney World and I’m scheduled the day of the strike, this is the first time I’ve done something like this and I don’t ever usually call out or not come to work, I’m always there and on time, so is there any chance they could fire me? I really just don’t know if there’s any loop holes they could use or something.

Article: Big investors are starting to get worried

Just grabbed some of the more relevant stuff.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/big-investors-are-starting-to-get-worried-bof-a-survey-105901320.html

"Big investors are beginning to worry about several key fundamentals that underpin the stock market.

Global growth expectations have continued to "fall markedly" in September, according to the latest survey of fund managers out of Bank of America. The survey found that economic growth expectations are at their lowest level since April 2020.

The sharp month-to-month decline comes on the heels of a lackluster August jobs report and an increase in earnings warnings from corporate America as the likes of 3M Company and others contend with the impact of the Delta variant on demand and costs.

Further, a net 22% of those surveyed by BofA expect profit margins of companies to continue to worsen in coming months. That is up from 15% in August."

Experienced Organizers?

EDIT: Typo

Hey y'all,

So I just heard about the general October strike around a month ago and was excited for it until I did some digging and found that there were criticisms of the movement for not being thought out enough or for not having given enough time for experienced organizers to prepare.

So my question is: where are the experienced organizers and what are they saying? Is there any chance to get this "train" back on it's intended course? Should we cancel? Does the date need to be reassessed? Are there any specific websites or directories we can reference?

I'm sick of this unnatural way of living via capitalism. We gotta do something about this.

I'm creating a documentary that explores the current job market and why everyone is hiring but jobs aren't being filled. What questions do you want answered?

Everywhere I go I see "Now Hiring." Yet, many service positions remain open and service is slow. Restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, etc. My grocery store has had open jobs signs for the last month, and I just talked with an employee and they've got 15 open positions they're just unable to fill. They're overworked, underpaid, and anxious about the impending holiday busyness. I want to find out how we got here, what the next few months will look like, and what solutions may be out there. And with October 15th approaching, I'd love to know your thoughts. Thanks

Why are there so many anti strike people here.

It seems like everyone on this subreddit hates strikes and loves big corporations and wants everyone to stay poor forever. Talk about Stockholm Syndrome!
