How many people participated today?

No gatherings were organized to show our numbers and every company tracks its own own call outs separately, so there's no way for anyone to know how many people participated today.

Don't expect the media to report any numbers today because there's no way for them to see how many people participated either. We didn't organize in a way that gathers attention. Companies aren't going to share how many people called out and make themselves look weak.

That being said, I do know that at least 5 people in my department called out today.

What about the rest of you here? How many participated and what were the numbers where you worked? Is this a cause worth fighting for or did we give up?

If you’re striking and not involved in more organized action, consider solo or team postering. This one’s conveniently sized to fit on half a standard A4 sheet of paper.

UTAH IS STARTING

We are kicking off our strike today with a protest at the capital! Call in sick, or leave work tell your employer you have a family emergency. Or better yet just talk to your co-workers right now, and walk out all together to join us at the capital! See you soon!

As brothers and sisters in the labor movement, we understand the struggle on the job & will honor the picket lines!

Regardless in how you feel about Dave Chappelle's anti-trans jokes, I truly bwlive we need to start striking large streaming companies. Firing a worker for protesting should be a concern for all of us.

Any strike not backed by Unions is worthless. Today was proof of that. All the strikes in the recent news are unions.

People have been trying to engrain this message since this subreddit was form but many did not want to listen.

Boycott

I feel like a boycott would have been more successful and attainable.

I say we repeat every friday until traction is gained.

Today showed that big business sees our threat. That means its time to dig in and spread awareness. Places where fridays are big profit days will be the most important!!!

White House plan for 24/7 @ California Port won't help

The best part is the quotes by former US Trade Negotiator Harry Broadman. He says the only thing the gov't can really do is regulate or penalize bottlenecks. Even better he says the problem needs to be solved at the level of the individual companies (ie: pay more).

https://www.businessinsider.com/why-bidens-plan-us-ports-wont-solve-supply-chain-crisis-2021-10

"President Joe Biden wants to clear traffic jams at US ports and save the holiday shopping season, but experts say his current plan won't completely solve the problem.

"It's great that they've chosen to do something, but we're talking about a less than 1% to 2% change here," Brian Whitlock, a supply chain analyst at Gartner, said.

Backlogs at US railroads and warehouses are also contributing to the delays. Shortages of warehouse workers, truck drivers, shipping containers, and chassis are also major issues that the White House failed to address.

Broadman said the supply-chain crisis is mostly out of the president's control, unless the government began regulating or penalizing companies within the supply chain.

"There's nothing much that the Biden administration can do in the short or even medium-term," he said. "The logistics industry is run by private actors and these private actors need to solve it."
