❗️Hackers BREACH United Nations using stolen credentials earlier this year (Report)

Hackers successfully infiltrated the UN computer networks in 2021 and reportedly made off with a trove of data that could potentially be used to target agencies within the organization. (Bloomberg)

The breach was discovered by Resecurity – the cybersecurity firm claiming the hackers gained access to the UN’s systems on April 5 and were STILL ACTIVE on the network as of Aug. 7.

The attackers gained access using a stolen username and password of a UN employee, the credentials apparently purchased from the dark web.

UN officials informed Resecurity - after they informed them of the hack - that only screenshots were taken in the breach. With Resecurity then claiming the UN stopped corresponding with them after they provided proof of stolen data.
