🇺🇳 Jokes aside the area they are in used to be disputed land between Estonia and Russia but Estonia was forced to give up its claims due to wanting to incorporate better into the West

🇷🇺 The Areas of Jaanilinn and Petserimaa were part of the first Estonian independent state until, while under Soviet Occupation, they were annexed into the Russian SSR

✍️ After the re-establishment of independence in 1991 Estonia hoped to be able to regain the areas diplomatically but in the end as I said renounced their claim over them
