If I have to give an opinion I’d say the Malian and Russian objective to control the north and the border with Algeria is stupid as of now, the logisticals lines are too thin and too exposed, they get ambushed 9 times out of 10 and the rate of casualties grow.
Another result they face by focusing on the north is leaving center Mali less defended.
Would be better to give up on territory for now, stop any offensive action and switch to strategic defense, not scatter everywhere like a college girl.
