Good news for OG Pixel users. Content for this week's post:
• Results: You guys still daily drive your Pixel
• ROMs Update: PeagsusOS
• Be proud as the owner of OG Pixel

This stats is interesting. A device that is almost 5 years old and you guys are still using as main device, Some still using as secondary, so is it to abuse Google Photos i guess? Lol. Anyway, left with few that are still in the community but keeping device in drawer or somewhere (trash bin maybe). Rest that didn't vote, I guess you didn't even own it but come to have some fun in the community (forgot to make option for this, lol).

So PegasusOS updated this week,nothing really change in the experience. If you don't know yet, this is a ROM that is pure AOSP and come with several LineageOS system apps. Check the screenshot here if you are interested. Download it over here.

One more day till Google Photos updated backup policy apply. Be proud as you own the OG Pixel, you can still abuse Google's server at full potential unlike other Pixel. Give my stats a look back in March, epic results, hope you guys can share yours too,

Interesting to see how other people out there that relies on Google Photos will do, let's see next week in other community what stuff they gonna work with (actually the drama already started, lol).

This week, I wanna discuss stuff related to Google Photos. Tons of modules for unlimited backup in other community, but does it even work? Let's discuss in this week's post:
• Unlimited Original Quality PATCHED
• Unlimited High Quality maybe possible now, but...
• ROMs Developer working on unlimited backup
• New ROMs: DivestOS

When Google announced the Google Photos limitation in 2020, I am early to give other people a test for this. The stuff I give is Pixel 1 xml (pixel_exclusive_2016.xml) which provide unlimited Original Quality backup. People give a response that uploading still used up storage. I try to search on the web, and find out that this is patched way back in 2017.

For now, I saw some other people giving Pixel 5 xml (nexus.xml) which give unlimited High Quality, some said works, some said no. From my perspective, I think unlimited High Quality is possible now but know what, Google will patched it really soon. For unlimited Original Quality, not even working on Pixel 2 anyway.

Some developers may know that ROMs lead developer (EvoX as far as I know do) are trying to get Pixel unlimited backup onto their ROMs. I don't know but this may works, because it not as simple as putting xml inside, but changing some other values in other places to make Google think it a Pixel. Anyway, good luck.

I don't know how many ROMs out there are available for our device, but I founded another one in the wild, DivestOS. Another ROM based on LineageOS with slight changes which released build monthly (unlike LineageOS, doing weekly). You can download it over here.

As a OG Pixel owner, I guess most of you aren't worry of Google Photos as you own it. But what your own view regarding those stuff I talk about above? Comment down below.

1. Recorder coming with more English dialects
• Available in more English dialects, including Singaporean, Australian, Irish, and British English.

2. Gboard improved clipboard ✓
• After copying text, Gboard will surface key snippets (phone numbers, email addresses, or URLs) with custom icons/pills in the suggestions strip.

• Not available in all languages or countries. See g.co/gboard/clipboard for more information.

• Rollout completed.

So I feel like I wanna stop writing this weekly update stuff just because I am getting busy day by day and less and less updates available for Pixel 1. Well, last weekly update post here:
• Google Photos Unlimited Backup for other devices
• Your Pixel is still benefit from Pixel Feature Drop

Well, so after 2 weeks, I have checked with other people in other communities, they said unlimited storage saver quality backup is working with some ROM by default or with module. So seems like Google not aware of this for now, but who know Google is gonna patch it anytime soon. Hope it won't.

OG Pixel may seems like an abandon device by Google, but do you know some of the Pixel Feature Drop is reaching to you? Currently, I have the updated Gboard clipboard which is quite good but not on my other device, so seems like it really a Pixel exclusive features as of now. For Google Photos locked folders & Google Recorder new trannoscription update, it haven't reached on any Pixel yet so stay tuned for that, I bet it will arrive on the old Pixel. You can check the list of features expected to arrive on your OG Pixel here.

Well, until then. I may release in an irregular basis if I have the time, hopefully.

Well, this is not really a weekly update. This post is to answer some of the FAQ's in our community this week:
1. Can I upload unlmited original quality in Google Photos on PixelExperience?
I understand that they are many people who are mainly using this ROM. Unfortunately, if you are planning to use it for Google Photos backup, you had better switch to other ROMs for that, because PixelExperience releases spoof every single device to be a Pixel 5, so you are getting free storage save quality backup instead of original quality backup which is a downgrade.

2. Which GCam takes better photos?
This is a really good question, most people here are either just using stock one from Play Store or Camera PX, classic. I have other camera suggestion though, I do test other GCam and find out it take great photos or not. For alternative of Camera PX, check out PixelCam, it almost at the same level. Some people said DMGC takes way sharper photos, hmm..., it also GCam 8 too if you are interested with it, every features work with that except that Night Sight processing is bad with this cam.

I guess i had better just answer these 2 questions this week, if not the post will be damn long. Other will be answer in the next post. Thanks for reading anyway if you do, hope you find it useful.
