Play Store web redesign widely rollout, alongside with Data Safety section
After years of waiting, the long-awaited Play Store web version redesign is finally rolling out globally, which matches the current design of the Play Store app itself. If you don’t know yet, Google has been experimenting with the Play Store redesign a few months ago.

This redesign has brought a refresh for the category into Games, Apps, Movies, Books, Kids. It appeared for desktop users on the top while mobile users can access it from the bottom. While opening the app listing, you will see everything has been reorganised on the desktop side, whereas on mobile it is something similar to the Play Store app itself.

Lastly, Data Safety. The section is now available on the web version and you can see how apps manage your data before you give it a try. As expected, it will be made available on the Play Store app for all platforms soon.

Google Play Store app listings can now show compatibility for your active devices
Besides the Play Store web interface update, Google has also updated the application itself to show compatibility of your devices.

The addition of this section, I can't see how useful it is for now as it is basically repetitive from the app info on the top itself. Also, it only shows your TV devices alongside with your cuurent device in the list, but not your other phones or tablets yet. Hopefully that will get added at a later date.

When the application isn't compatible with your device, you will just see "Won't work on your device" wording, no more other information.

#Gallery
Gallery Go is now just Gallery without 'Go' branding
Google released Gallery Go back in July 2019 which is a lightweight gallery app that doesn't require Internet connection to use. Any device running Android 8 or later can download it right from the Play Store to use it. Recently, Google has quietly rebranded the app by dropping the "Go" branding.

Starting with version 1.8.8.436428459, the app icon has been simplified to only show the logo without the "Go" wording. Besides that, nothing else has really changed, it is still light as usual, and also has a much cleaner interface compared to Google Photos.

Earlier it was announced that YouTube Go will be deprecated soon, it is unclear whether Google will start to make changes to other Go applications or not, anyway hopefully these apps can continue to get support and benefit people around the world.

Google Docs will soon let users to apply actions on multiple texts in one click
Google Workspace Updates

Felt annoying applying the same stuff over and over again? Google has acknowledged it and added the ability to let you apply actions to multiple text selections at once.

A minor change but it's a really useful feature. For example, you want to apply the same format for the noscript across your documents, no need to change it one by one, just select all the noscripts and apply actions in one click.

This feature is already on Microsoft Word and will be available on Google Docs for Google Workspace customers over the coming week.

Google Drive gains keyboard shortcuts for basic actions
Google Workspace Updates

For quite some time, if you had want to make changes to files stored on Google Drive, you had to always use your mouse which some people finds it slow, but now moving files on Google Drive is getting easier with the addition of keyboard shortcuts.

Basic keyboard shortcuts like copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) are now available to use in Google Drive. When copying a file, the noscript and its link will be saved to your device's clipboard, and you can easily paste in a document or email for example. On the other side, if you paste it in other places, only the link will appear.

If you want to create a shortcut to a file, just copy the file first and press Ctrl + Shift + V. Opening file is as easy as selecting the files and pressing Ctrl + Enter, all of them will be opened in a new tab.

All these keyboard shortcuts only work if you are using Google Chrome, available for any type of accounts, including personal.

9to5Google

With Android 13, Google made some changes to the Pixel Launcher universal search feature which they added the Google logo to the search bar. Recently, the Google app got an update which reveals what Google is planning to do.

This particular UI change match the Pixel Launcher universal search feature. At the time of posting, it isn't widely rolled out. Once your device got it, you will see search suggestions & history is placed on a card featuring rounded corners. It's likely that when you press on the search bar, the Google app will open and let you search over there.

This new UI is only likely to be available on Android 13 only. Older Android versions will continue to see the current old UI.

Announcement
Hey there, I guess I don’t need to explain why the channel isn’t active these days, but if you don’t know yet, let me explain in this post.

After putting a lot of effort for a consecutive 10 months on this channel, we are finally here. Without your support, it wouldn’t be possible. Over the past 10 months, because I have spent a lot of my time posting over here, I haven’t been doing well on the other side.

So yeah, I have decided to spend less time over here, so there will be fewer posts from now on. That doesn’t mean we are giving up. What we are going to mainly post here is some Pixel stuff as you know, then probably some meaningful changes in Google applications and Android, other stuff will depend.

You might have noticed that we are currently experimenting with some sort of summary post, which we will try to compile news that we couldn't manage to post on this channel over the week. You can also see this as a sort of reminder of what Google released over the past week.

Every day is a busy day for me, I will try my best to continue posting over here, so yeah, hope you have a nice day and be able to achieve your own goal too.

Pixel 7 prototype on eBay for sale
eBay

Someone just posted a Google Pixel 7 prototype on eBay for sale. Currently the phone is sitting at $510 USD.

The seller claims the device comes with Android 13 and has "pixel apps in development stage". Instead of the Google logo, this engineering sample features a different logo just like other Pixel PVT's.

Update: We've backed up the website on archive.org in case the auction gets taken down by Google (link)
