#Stadia #RightToRepair Stadia Controllers gaining Bluetooth connectivity next week Twitter Good news for the three Stadia Controller owners, next week you'll get a tool enabling Bluetooth connection that will let you connect it to a different device instead…
#Stadia #RightToRepair
The Stadia Controller Bluetooth connectivity tool is out

As promised, the tool letting you use the Bluetooth Low Energy connection on the Stadia Controller has been released. It uses a Chrome functionality to flash the firmware, similar to the Android Flash Tool.

This update will permanently disable Wi-Fi connectivity, so wait with updating your controller if you want to use it to play wirelessly on Stadia as Stadia closes down today 😢.

You have until December 31, 2023 to update the controller so it can use Bluetooth mode.

There is also a 'tandem mode' letting you plug a Stadia Controller to a different one to use inputs from both controllers at the same time letting you and someone else play in a 'friend mode' where you share the game's inputs.

You can turn your Stadia Controller into a Bluetooth one right here: https://stadia.google.com/controller/

#ChromeOS Material You color theming is coming to ChromeOS Reddit A recent ChromeOS Canary update has added an internal flag for dynamic theming which themes SystemUI elements, just like on Android 12 or newer. The design is not final with placeholder elements…

Material You is now more complete on ChromeOS
Twitter

Users @cr_c2cv and @emty2021 have figured out a way to get Material You working with command line flags.

The experimental flags show us a redesigned, Android 12/13-like quick settings menu with tiles for the toggles. Some elements have gotten moved, like the power button or the Canary version. There's also a new keyboard layout button and a light/dark mode toggle on the right side of the volume and brightness toggle.

The inputs menu has also gotten some changes, with a microphone input volume slider and a Live Caption switch.

The design is not final with placeholder texts and other quirks (like no MD3 toggles), but it's a nice preview of what will come in the future.

Google's Find My Device has gotten it's Material You update!

Likely in preparation of Google's upcoming AirTag competitor "grogu", they have updated the Find My Device app with a Themed Icon (and other Material Design 3 elements), dark mode support and a new main menu.

Find my Device's main menu showcases all of your devices that you can select to track, instead of them being on the bottom bar like before.

The setup screen also mentions of an encrypted last known location feature which is not yet available.

You can download the 2.5.001 update on the Play Store or APKMirror.

Alphabet laid off jobs for 12,000 people
Google Blog

Even though the world economy activity is slowly starting to recover from the pandemic, many companies still end up cutting job for existing employees, and Google's parent company, Alphabet is the next one to do so.

CEO Sundar Pichai has sent out an announcement to all Googlers, stating that approximate 12,000 people will lost their jobs. According to Reuters, that's nearly 6% of the company's workforce.

Affected US employees have been notified about it in another email with immediate effect. Other employees will still get the chance to work in for the next few weeks due to local regulations.

Android will soon bring custom lock screen clocks
Mishaal Rahman | Tom

Mishaal Rahman has recently shared some exciting news about upcoming features. One of them is a "Custom Clock" setting in the Wallpaper & Style menu, which allows users to set a custom clock on their lock screen.

However, to use this feature, users will need a clock provider app that implements the clock plugins API. A future update to Pixel devices will likely include a "Pixel Clocks" app (with the package name com.google.pixelcustomclocks) that will provide custom clock options.

While it is not yet known exactly how many and what kind of clock options will be included, it is clear that this app will greatly enhance the customization capabilities of Android 13.

Additionally, other customization features in development for Android 13 include lock screen shortcut customization, 3D wallpaper generation, forced Themed Icon generation, and a new monochromatic color style.

A close friend of the channel, Tom, has made a concept of how the custom clock feature could look in the future, showing different clock styles that could be used. This concept gives us a glimpse of the endless possibilities that the new "Custom Clock" setting could bring to Android 13 users. (thanks for the images Tom!❤️)

Google changes its rules for the Android and Google Play in India
Google Blog

Google was recently fined $161m by India's anti-trust watchdog, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for alleged abuse of its market position and "unfair" business practices. Google challenged the CCI's ruling in the Supreme Court, but the court rejected the appeal.

To comply with the local laws, Google has decided to introduce these following changes:

• OEMs will be able to license individual Google apps for pre-installation on their devices.

• Indian users will now have the option to choose their default search engine via a choice screen when setting up a new Android smartphone/tablet.

• The Android compatibility requirements will have changes for partners to build non-compatible or forked variants.

• Making user choice billing available to all apps and games starting next month. Developers can offer users the option to choose an alternative billing system when purchasing in-app digital content.

• Improving Android's installation flow and auto-updating capability for sideloaded apps and app stores while ensuring users understand the potential security risks.

• Expanding online resources like help articles & FAQs to provide more information on Google Play services and when fees is applicable.

Google said it will continue to appeal the CCI directions with the case being heard by a lower court, which is expected to give a ruling before the end of March. But it’s going ahead with the changes to comply with the land of the law.

More leaks about Pixel Tablet
Kamila Wojciechowska

Kamila Wojciechowska has shared more images and information of the Pixel Tablet in black.

We got to know that there's no Pro version of the tablet like we thought, as the original "tangor" with the Tensor G1 chip was canceled in favor of "tangorpro", which is with Tensor G2.

The display is not an OLED panel, but a 2560x1600 LCD CSoT "ppa957db2d" panel with a RT4539 LED driver.

The EVT (engineering validation test) model had 8GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB Kioxia UFS storage and a PFC side fingerprint reader.

Interestingly, the settings of this tablet has a new tab named "Dock settings" with the sub text being "Dock version and updates" which hints at the dock having firmware updates.
